Creggan, Derry: PSNI attaccata durante raid

La polizia è finita sotto attacco nel quartiere di Creggan, a Derry, venerdì pomeriggio mentre perquisiva una casa

Bottiglie molotov e pietre sono state lanciate contro gli agenti di polizia che compivano la perquisizione.

Alcuni oggetti – si presume siano stati utilizzati dal RAAD (Republican Action Against Drugs) – sono stati sequestrati per eseguire indagini specialistiche.

Tra gli oggetti ritrovati una serie di armi da fuoco sospette, simili a quelle utilizzate negli attacchi a Derry.

Un uomo di 35 anni è stato arrestato.

Un portavoce della polizia dice che l’area adesso è tranquilla.

PSNI attacked over RAAD raid

Police have come under attack in the Creggan area of Derry on Friday afternoon while carrying out a raid on a house in relation to paramilitary attacks.

Petrol bombs and stones were thrown at officers during the pro-active search.

A number of items – believed to be used by vigilante group RAAD – have been seized for specialist examination.

The items include a quantity of suspected firearms, believed to be similar to weapons used in attacks in the city.

A 56-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

A police spokesperson said the area was now calm.
