Derry: bomba contro ufficio della Città della Cultura 2013

L’ufficio istituito per organizzare le celebrazioni del 2013 è stato attaccato per la seconda volta

Una bomba è esplosa all’esterno dell’ufficio “Città della Cultura” a Derry nella serata di mercoledì.

Non ci sono notizie di feriti e la polizia deve ancora rendere nota l’estensione dei danni provocati dallo scoppio.

E’ la seconda volta che l’ufficio diventa bersaglio di un attacco. A gennaio una pipe bomb piazzata da un gruppo armato repubblicano esplose causando lievi danni all’edificio.

Nel 2010 Derry era stata nominata Città britannica della Cultura 2013, un traguardo che aveva ottenuto un sostegno di tutte le comunità in Irlanda del Nord.

Shipquay Street è stata chiusa dalla polizia prima dello scoppio della bomba, avvenuto intorno alle 23.

Office set up to organise 2013 celebrations targeted for the second time

A bomb detonated outside the City of Culture office in Derry on Wednesday night, police have reported.

There were no reports of injuries and police have yet to reveal details of the extent of the damage caused.

It is the second time that the office has been targeted – a pipe bomb was planted by dissident republicans in January, causing minor damage to the building.

Derry was awarded the right to become the 2013 UK City of Culture in 2010, an achievement that has secured cross-community support in Northern Ireland.

The city’s Shipquay Street was closed off by officers investigating the blast which they reported at about 11pm.
