Kevin Campbell si è scagliato contro i responsabili, dicendo che non hanno alcun sostegno della popolazione.
“Nessuno in questa città sostiene questo comportamento e sono molto dispiaciuto per l’ultima serie di attacchi. Appena il mese scorso ho partecipato ad un evento che illustrava i piani per un significativo investimento volto a costruire un nuovo spazio condiviso all’Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall, dove si racconterà ala storia unica della città.
“La città sta lavorando collettivamente per mostrarsi a tutti durante il 2013 e come Città della Cultura. Attacchi come questo non aiutano e non rappresentano l’opinione pubblica.
“Molto lavoro di livello eccellente viene fatto sul terreno dalle due comunità per promuovere la nostra storia condivisa e il nostro apprezzamento per l’identità e la cultura personale ed è molto deludete che una piccola minoranza di persone stia cercando di impedire la prosecuzione di quel lavoro positivo”, ha affermato.
Il sindaco di Derry ha concluso chiedendo a chiunque abbia informazioni di contattere le autorità.
SF mayor condemns sectarian paint bombing of Apprentice Boys hall
Mayor Kevin Campebll hit out at those responsible saying they do not have the support of the people of the city.
“No one in this city is supportive of this behaviour and I am really disappointed at this latest series of attacks. Just last month I attended an event outlining significant investment plans to build a new shared space at the Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall which will tell the city’s unique historic story.
“The city is working collectively to showcase our city to a global audience during 2013 and our City of Culture year and attacks of this nature are extremely unhelpful and not representative of public opinion.
“A lot of excellent work is being done on the ground between both communities to promote our shared history and our appreciation of everyone’s own identity and culture and it is extremely disappointing that a small minority of people are attempting to prevent that positive work from continuing,” he said.
The Mayor concluded that anyone with information on the attacks should contact the relevant authorities.
