Un migliaio di persone hanno dovuto lasciare la propria abitazione nella notte per un allarme sicurezza ancora in corso nella zona della stazione PSNI di Strand Road
L’allarme è iniziato nelle prime ore della notte ed alcune strade sono state chiuse, isolando la stazione di polizia.
Gli artificieri dell’esercito britannico sono intervenuti nella zona.
Dopo aver controllato alcune strade, parte dei residenti è potuta rientrare in casa.
Lawrence Hill resta chiusa al traffico.
Templemore Sports Complex e Brooke Park sono disponibili per accogliere le persone ancora evacuate.

Security alert at Derry PSNI station
Around a thousand people were evacuated from their homes overnight due to a security alert which is ongoing at Strand Road police station in Londonderry.
The alert began in the early hours of Friday morning and a number of streets were closed off around the station.
Army bomb experts have been tasked to the scene.
Some residents have been allowed to return to their homes after roads were reopened.
Lawrence Hill remains closed to traffic.
Templemore Sports Complex and Brooke Park have been made available to anyone still evacuated.
