Rabbia ieri sera nel quartiere di Creggan, dopo che un lavoratore dell’azienda elettrica nordirlandese è stato aggredito e il suo furgone incendiato
“Quello che è accaduto a questo lavoratore questa sera a Creggan è assolutamente deprecabile. Ho visitato la scena e gli abitanti sono furibondi per quanto avvenuto qui” ha spiegato il consigliere Kevin Campbell, Sinn Féin.
Un lavoratore di Northern Ireland Electric, l’azienda elettrica nordirlandese, si trovava nella zona di Linsfort Drive per eseguire un’importante riparazione alla rete di distribuzione, quando è stato avvicinato da alcuni uomini a volto coperto.
L’uomo è stato minacciato e gli è stato intimato di portare un presunto ordigno presso la stazione PSNI di Strand Road.
L’operaio ha lasciato la scena ed il furgone è stato dato alle fiamme poco dopo.
“La gente di Rinmore Drive adesso è senza elettricità e comprensibilmente NIE ha detto che non torneranno questa notte” ha affermato Campbell.
“La gente responsabile di questo attacco deve fare un passo avanti e spiegare le ragioni di questo gesto alla comunità” ha aggiunto.

THERE is anger in Creggan tonight after an NI worker was attacked and his van burned out.
“What happened to this worker in Creggan tonight is absolutely disgraceful. I visited the scene and local residents are very angry about what has gone here,” said Cllr Kevin Campbell..
An NIE worker was in the Linsfort Drive area carrying out essential repairs when he was approached by a number of masked men.
He was threatened and told to take a suspect device to Strand Road PSNI station.
The worker fled the scene and the van was set on fire a short time later.
“People in Rinmore Drive are now without electric and understandably NIE have said they will not be back out tonight again,” said Cllr Campbell.
“The people behind this attack need to step forward and explain the rational behind it to this community,” he added.
