Buncrana Road è stata riaperta al traffico dopo essere stata chiusa per alcune ore a causa di un’operazione di polizia
Gli agenti confermano che la chiusura è dovuta ad “un allarme bomba”.
Nella zona sono intervenuti gli artificieri dell’esercito.
“La polizia sta conducendo una ricerca nella zona dopo le denunce di attività sospetti” ha affermato un’altro ufficiale PSNI questa mattina.
La scorsa settimana la polizia aveva avvisato gli abitanti di Whitehouse Road di stare attenti perché era stato denunciato l’abbandono di un oggetto sospetto nella zona.
Una portavoce della polizia ha detto che la PSNI ha ricevuto informazioni ad inizio settimana riguardante “qualcosa di sospetto lasciato nella zona”.
“Gli agenti sono andati porta a porta parlando con i residenti e, sebbene non sia stato trovato nulla, chiediamo che chiunque venga a contatto con un oggetto sospetto non lo tocchi e richieda subito l’intervento dalla polizia”, ha spiegato la portavoce.

Several roads remain closed in Derry security operation
The Buncrana Road has reopened following a rush hour police security operation in Derry.
Officers at the scene confirmed the delays were the result of a “bomb scare.”
British Army technical officers (ATO) had been tasked to the scene.
“Police are conducting a search of the area following a report of suspicious activity,” said another PSNI officer this morning.
Last week police urged people in the Whitehouse Road area of the city to be cautious after reports of a suspicious object being left in the area.
A PSNI spokeswoman said police received information earlier this week that there may “be something suspicious in the area”.
“Officers went door to door talking to local residents and while nothing was found we would ask that should someone come across a suspicious object they do not touch it and contact police straight away,” she said.
