Alcuni colpi di arma da fuoco sono stati sparati contro una pattuglia di polizia durante un’uscita di routine a Derry
Mentre gli agenti PSNI ritornavano alla loro vettura, sono stati sparati numerosi colpi contro di loro.
Nessuno è rimasto ferito nell’attacco.
Il Soprintendente Chris Yates ha parlato di tentativo di uccidere degli agenti.
“Non ho dubbi si sia trattato del tentativo di uccidere un agente di polizia. Questi poliziotti stavano aiutando la gente a recuperare una vettura rubata e sono finiti sotto attacco. Siamo molto fortunati che nessuno sia rimasto ferito questa sera” ha affermato.
Il consigliere SDLP Mark H Durkan vive vicino al luogo in cui è avvenuto l’attacco ed è furente per quanto accaduto.
“I colpi sono stati sparati in questa che è una strada principale – ci sono molti giovani spesso in giro in questa zona ed è estrema fortuna che nessuno sia rimasto ucciso.
“La gente si sarebbe potuta svegliare con la terribile notizia di qualcuno assassinato nella zona di Glen Road”.

Gun attack was ‘attempt to kill’ officers
A number of shots have been fired at a police patrol during a routine call-out in Londonderry.
As officers were returning to their patrol car several shots were fired.
No-one was injured during the incident.
Superintendent Chris Yates said this was an attempt to kill police officers.
“I have no doubt this was an attempt to kill a police officer. These officers were helping and assisting the public recovering a stolen car and have come under attack. We are very fortunate that no-one was hurt tonight”, he said.
Local SDLP councillor Mark H Durkan lives close to where the attack took place and is outraged by what has happened.
“This is a main road that the shots were fired – there are alot of young people that often hang out in this area and it’s extremely lucky no-one was killed.
“People could have been waking up to the awful news that someone was murdered in the Glen Road area.”
