Derry: tentato il blocco di una riunione del District Policing Partnership

Una folla con manifesti anti-PSNI ha cercato di interrompere un incontro del District Policing Partnership in corso a Derry

Circa 30 contestatori si sono radunati e hanno cercato di entrare negli uffici comunali in Strand Road intorno alle 10:30 di giovedì, mentre all’interno si teneva la riunione dell’organismo di controllo della polizia locale.

Gli è stato comunicato che non potevano avere accesso agli uffici perché non c’era una sala a loro disposizione.

La polizia è intervenuta sul posto e c’è stata un breve confronto tra i contestatori e gli agenti.

“Una protesta sta avvenendo fuori dagli uffici del Derry City Council. Per volontà del Consiglio nessuno può entrare in quanto la sala dell’incontro è piena di persone”, afferma la PSNI in un comunicato.

I contestatori hanno cantato slogan e mostrato cartelli contro l’operato della polizia.

L’incontro è terminato alle 11:45 ma i contestatori se n’erano già andati.

In precedenza molti altri incontri del District Policing Partnership a Derry sono stati interrotti dai contestatori.

Crowd protest at police meeting

A crowd holding anti-PSNI posters have tried to disrupt a District Policing Partnership meeting in Londonderry.

Around 30 protesters turned up and tried to get inside the council offices on the Strand Road in the city at around 10.30am on Thursday as discussions took place inside.

They were told they could not enter the premises because there was no room for them.

Police were called and a stand-off took place for a short time.

“A protest is taking place outside Derry City Council offices. As per the direction of Council no-one is being permitted entry as the meeting room is at full capacity”, a PSNI statement said.

Those involved were chanting and waving anti-police signs.

The meeting finished at around 11.45am, but protesters had dispersed at that point.

It is one of a number of protests held at DPP meetings in the area.
