Derry: vandali in azione contro il Ponte della Pace

Vandali hanno danneggiato il “Peace Bridge” che attraversa il fiume Foyle

Lunedì pomeriggio la polizia ha ricevuto un rapporto sul danneggiamento. Il consigliere dello Sinn Fein Colly Klly ha detto che due larghi pannelli di vetro sono stati infranti.

“Migliaia di persone hanno utilizzato il ponte sin dalla sua apertura, avvenuta due settimane fa, e ha dimostrato di essere una risorsa positiva per il nostro centro città”, ha affermato.

“Non possiamo permettere ad un piccolo numero di individui di disfare quel buon lavoro”.

Il ponte, lungo 312 metri, è costato 14,6 milioni di sterline ed è progttato per pedoni e ciclisti.

Derry peace bridge damaged by vandals

Vandals have damaged Londonderry’s ‘peace bridge’ across the river Foyle.

Police said they received a report about the damage on Monday afternoon. Sinn Fein councillor Colly Kelly said two large glass panels on the bridge had been smashed.

“Thousands of people have used the bridge since it opened a fortnight ago and it has proved to be a very positive asset to our city centre,” he said.

“We cannot allow a small number of individuals to undo that good work.”

The bridge, which is 312 metres long, was built at a cost of £14.6m and is designed for pedestrians and cyclists.
