Direttore esecutivo del Police Ombudsman si dimette per “ingerenza”

Il Direttore Esecutivo del Police Ombudsman nordirlandese ha lasciato il proprio posto di lavoro

Sam Pollock denuncia che l’indipendenza dell’ufficio del Police Ombudsman è stata messa in pericolo dalle “ingerenze” di lavoratori civili del Ministero della Giustizia.

In un comunicato, il ministero ha detto di aver sempre rispettato l’indipendenza dell’ufficio.

Anche il Police Ombudsman Al Hutchinson ha duramente respinto la presunta messa in pericolo dell’indipendenza.

Pollock era Direttore Esecutivo sin dall’apertura dell’ufficio, avvenuta 10 anni fa. Lascerà il posto alla fine di agosto.

NI Ombudsman boss quits over ‘meddling’

The Chief Executive of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland has resigned from his job.

Sam Pollock claims the office’s independence has been undermined by what has been described as ‘meddling’ by senior civil servants at the Department of Justice.

In a statement, the Department said it had always respected the office’s independence.

The ombudsman Al Hutchinson also strongly rejected claims the office’s independence had been undermined.

Mr Pollock has been chief executive since the office opened just over 10 years ago. He will leave the post at the end of August.
