Un gruppo repubblicano ha pianificato una protesta a Falls Road contro la sostituzione del murales di Kieran Nugent con uno raffigurante uno dei fondatori della UVF
L’immagine attuale ritrae Edward Carson e un’operazione armata a Larne. È stata appena dipinta in Falls Road al posto del murales dedicato alla figura del volontario dell’IRA Kieran Nugent e, in questi primi giorni, è già stata colpita da diversi lanci di bombe di vernice.
“Belfast Cumann”, un gruppo presente su Facebook e legato al 32 County Sovereignty Movement, ha scritto oggi: “Chiediamo a tutte le persone di buon senso contrarie alla rimozione dei murales all’International Wall di Falls Road, di unirsi a noi domani (venerdì 25 marzo, Ndt) alle ore 12 per mostrare la loro opposizione a quest’agenda politica revisionista”.

Protest call over UVF mural on Falls Road
A dissident republican group is planning a protest against the replacement of an IRA mural on the Falls Road with one depicting the old UVF.
The image – showing Edward Carson and what appears to be the Larne gun-running operation – recently replaced an image of dead IRA convict Kieran Nugent, and on Wednesday the new mural needed to be cleaned after it was attacked with paint.
A Facebook group called ‘Belfast Cumann’, linked to the 32 County Sovereignty Movement, wrote on Thursday: “We’re calling on all like-minded people against the removal of the murals at the international wall, Falls Road, to join us tomorrow [Friday] at 12pm at the wall to show our opposition to this revisionist agenda.”
