Una donna di 58 anni afferma di essere stata picchiata da uomini che prendevano parte alla parata dei Royal Black Preceptory
Mary McKeown stava attraversando la strada per andare dal parrucchiere quando quattro uomini l’hanno aggredita.
Suo figlio, Don McKeown, riferisce che la donna è stata medicata presso l’Antrim Area Hospital per le ferite subite.
“Le hanno dato pugni in faccia, colpita sulla nuca e ha le dita slogate.
“E’ stato teppismo, puro teppismo” ha affermato a U105.8FM.
La polizia ha rivelato di aver ricevuto inizialmente un rapporto su una donna caduta a terra durante la parata, ma in seguito la donna ha detto di essere stata attaccata.
Dopo aver visitato personalmente la donna coinvolta nel presunto incidente Declan O’Loan, parlamentare SDLP, ha affermato di voler trasmettere l’incidente alla Parades Commission ed alla PSNI.
“Ho visitato questa donna su richiesta della sua famiglia nella serata di sabato ed era ancora molto sconvolta” afferma O’Loan.
“Ritengo sia stata oggetto di tre diverse aggressioni compiute da diverse persone.
“Queste aggressioni sono totalmente inaccettabili e devono essere pienamente indagate dalla PSNI.
“Contatterò anche la Royal Black Preceptory su queste faccende e chiederò un incontro per discuterne”.
Il parlamentare ha parlato anche di altri incidenti avvenuti durante la parata di sabato.
“In un altro grave incidente, un elevato numero di membri della RBP sono entrati nel parcheggio di una chiesa e hanno urinato contro un muro, subito dopo essere scesi dai pullman”, ha proseguito.
“Questo è un pessimo comportamento e gli organizzatori della parata devono assicurare che non accadrà mai più. Fornirò tutti i dettagli alla Commissione Parate”.
La PSNI ha comunicato che indagherà su queste affermazioni.
Migliaia di persone hanno preso parte alle parate volute dalla Royal Black Institution in tutta l’Irlanda del Nord nella giornata di sabato.

Woman claims she was attacked during parade
A 58-year-old woman claims she was beaten by men taking part in a Royal Black Preceptory parade in Ballymena.
Mary McKeown was crossing the road to go to a hairdressers when up to four men allegedly beat her.
Her son, Don McKeown, says she was treated for her injuries at Antrim Area Hospital.
“She was punched in the face, she was hit on the back of the neck and her fingers are dislocated.
“This was just thuggery, absolute thuggery,” he told U105.8FM.
Police say they had initially received a report on Saturday afternoon that a woman had fallen during the parade but the woman later said she had been attacked.
SDLP MLA Declan O’Loan has said he will be reporting the incident to the Parades Commission and the PSNI after visiting the woman involved in the alleged incident.
“I visited this lady at the request of her family on Saturday evening and she was still very shocked,” Mr O’Loan said.
“I believe that she was the subject of three separate assaults by different individuals including being punched in the face.
“These assaults were totally unacceptable and they must be fully investigated by the PSNI.
“I will also be contacting the Royal Black Preceptory about these matters and asking them to meet me to discuss them.”
The MLA added that other incidents also took place during Saturday’s parade.
“In a further serious incident, a large number of RBP participants entered a church car park and urinated against a wall after getting off their buses,” he continued.
“This was disgraceful behaviour and parade organisers must ensure that it is never repeated again. I will give full details to the Parades Commission.”
The PSNI say they are investigating the claim.
