La fidanzata di un ufficiale della PSNI è stata ferita dall’esplosione di una bomba posizionata sotto alla sua vettura, quando si apprestava a lasciare la sua casa di Belfast.
La trentottenne è stata trasportata al Royal Victorial Hospital per le lievi ferite riportate ed in seguito dimessa.
Stava facendo manovra per allontanarsi dall’abitazione in Kingsdale Park a East Belfast, quando c’è stato un’esplosione sotto al cofano dell’auto.
La deflagrazione, avvenuta alle 7:30, ha fatto tremare i vetri della zona residenziale, a meno di 1 km dal quartier generale della polizia.
Una grande operazione di sicurezza è stata istituita nella zona, con gli artificieri dell’esercito ad analizzare la vettura.
Il parlamentare di East Belfast e leader dell’Ulster Unionist Party, sir Reg Empey, ha riferito, dopo aver parlato con la polizia: “Sembra che una specie di ordigno sia esploso sotto la sua auto quando ha fatto inversione.
“Questa è una zona residenziale tranquilla e se si tratta di un attacco contro un agente di polizia, penso si tratti di un grave sviluppo”.

Woman hurt in Belfast explosion
A PSNI officer’s girlfriend has been injured after a bomb exploded under her car as she left his Belfast home.
The 38-year-old woman was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital with minor injuries and was later discharged.
She was reversing a car out of the drive of the semi-detached house at Kingsdale Park in east Belfast when there was an explosion under the front of the car.
The blast, at 7.30am, sent shockwaves through the residential area less than 1km from police headquarters.
A major security operation has been mounted in the area, with army bomb disposal experts examining the car.
East Belfast Assembly member and Ulster Unionist party leader Sir Reg Empey said after being briefed by police: ‘It seems some sort of device exploded under her car as she backed out of the drive.
‘This is a quiet residential area and if it is the case of a police officer being targeted, I think it is a very serious development.’
