Due arresti a Derry per omicidio di Kieran Doherty

Two held over Doherty murder

A man and a woman are being questioned in connection with the Real IRA murder of Kieran Doherty, who was shot dead in Londonderry last year.

Kieran DohertyThe pair, aged 42 and 40, were arrested in the Derry area on Tuesday and are being held at Strand Road PSNI station.

The body of Mr Doherty – a father-of-one from the Brandywell – was found on the city’s outskirts last February, stripped and with his hands tied. He had been shot at close range.

The Real IRA admitted being behind the killing, saying in a statement that they had “executed” the 31-year-old victim.

Mr Doherty’s family has rejected allegations that he was an informer or drug dealer and has claimed MI5 was involved in his death.
