Due uomini sono stati medicati in ospedale a seguito dei disordini a West Belfast di sabato notte
La polizia non ha confermato che gli uomini sono rimasti feriti a causa dei loro proiettili di gomma sparati alla rotatoria di Broadway.
Gli agenti avevano sparato i colpi dopo essere stati attaccati da una grande folla con sassi, fuochi d’artificio, bombe di vernice e molotov.
Diversi ufficiali sono stati colpiti, mentre uno è stato colpito con una sbarra di ferro. Nove Land Rover della PSNI sono state danneggiate.
Il Police Ombudsman è stato informato dalla PSNI circa l’uso dei proiettili di gomma e viene svolta un’indagine per scoprire se le due persone ferite sono state colpite da questi proiettili.
È stato sostenuto da Relatives for Justice e da United Campaign Against Plastic Bullets che un adolescente era stato colpito da un proiettile di gomma.
Un consigliere della zona ha detto di aver appreso che due persone sono rimaste ferite.
Uno dei feriti è stato dimesso dall’ospedale mentre l’altro è in condizioni stabili al Royal Victoria Hospital.
Nel frattempo, il leader dello Sinn Fein Gerry Adams ha accusato i repubblicani di sfruttare le tensioni nella zona ovest di Belfast e di incoraggiare il settarismo.
Il parlamentare ha detto che nei disordini dello scorso fine settimana sono stati coinvolti criminali di carriera e secondo Adams sarebbe necessario “un po’ di buon senso”.
“Questo è un quartiere molto buono e c’è un contatto continuo per cercare di mantenere la calma , soprattutto nei periodi di incremento le tensioni settarie come prima del Twelfth (12 luglio, data storica per gli Orangisti, Ndt )”, ha affermato.
“Secondo la gente del posto ci sono gli altre persone che affermano di essere dei cosiddetti gruppi dissidenti che stanno chiaramente cercando di incoraggiare i giovani, in particolare. La gente in questa zona vuole porre fine a questo problema e io faccio eco a questo sentimento”.
Domenica la polizia ha affermato che i disordini di West Belfast erano stati orchestrati.

TWO TREATED FOR PLASTIC BULLET INJURIES IN BELFAST
Two men were treated in hospital following disturbances in Belfast on Saturday night, it has emerged.
Police have not confirmed that the men were injured as a result of them firing baton rounds at Broadway Roundabout.
They had fired the rounds after they came under attack from a large crowd throwing stones, fireworks, paint and petrol bombs.
Several officers were hit with missiles, while one was hit with an iron bar. Nine police Land Rovers were also damaged.
The Police Ombudsman was informed about the use of baton rounds by the PSNI and is investigated the claims that two people were hit by them.
It was claimed by Relatives for Justice and the United Campaign Against Plastic Bullets today that a teenager had been hit by a baton round.
A councillor from the area said that he understood that two people were injured.
It is understood that one of those injured has been discharged from hospital while the other is in a stable condition in the Royal Victoria Hospital.
Meanwhile, Sinn Fein leader Gerry Adams has accused dissidents of trying to exploit tensions in west Belfast and encourage sectarianism.
The MP said career criminals were also involved in the trouble at the weekend and he said “a bit of sense” was needed.
“This is a very good neighbourhood and there is an ongoing contact to try and keep calm, particularly during times of heightened sectarian tensions like the twelfth,” he said.
“According to local people there were others purporting to be from so-called dissident groups who were clearly seeking to encourage the young people in particular. The people in this area are certain they want and end to this trouble and I echo this sentiment.”
On Sunday, police said the riots had been orchestrated.
