Due persone in tribunale per disordini a Belfast

Un uomo ed un giovane sono stati rimandati in custodia accusati di essere coinvolti nei disordini del 12 luglio a South Belfast

Il sedicenne, di cui non si sa il nome a causa della minore età, è accusato di aver lanciato una molotov con l’intento di ferire agnti di polizia o danneggiare le loro proprietà.

Deve rispondere anche di una seconda accusa per comportamento rivoltoso tenuto nella zona di Ormeau Road.

Il ventenne Gary Kelly, di Lavinia Mews a Belfast, è apparso sul banco degli imputati per rispondere dell’accusa di comportamento rivoltoso.

Un detective della polizia ha detto di poter collegare entrambi gli imputati con le accuse sollevate contro di loro.

L’agente si è opposto alla richiesta di rilascio su cauzione del giovane per il rischio che possa commettere altri reati.

L’accusato è stato rimandato in custodia e apparirà nuovamente in collegamento video presso il Belfast Youth Court (tribunale dei minorenni) lunedì.

Kelly non ha chiesto il rilascio su cauzione, mentre il suo avvocato ha chiesto un’ulteriore settimana per raccogliere più informazioni.

E’ stato rimandato in custodia e dovrà apparire ancora in aula il 22 luglio.

Arresti per attacco armato

Nel frattempo due uomini sono stati arrestati in collegamento con un attacco di arma da fuoco contro la polizia in North Queen Street, Belfast, nelle prime ore del 12 luglio.

I due uomini, di 27 e 35 anni, sono stati trasferiti presso la Serious Crime Suite della stazione PSNI di Antrim per essere interrogati.

Durante gli sporadici incidenti di mercoledì sera nella zona di Brompton Park, un uomo di circa vent’anni è stato arrestato e poi rilasciato per ulteriori indagini.

Un adolescente è stato fermato e sta continuando ad aiutare la polizia.

Alcune perquisizioni sono state eseguite nella zona di Ardoyne nella giornata di mercoledì in relazione ai disordini e alcuni oggetti sono stati portati via per ulteriori indagini.

Two in court over city trouble

A man and a youth have been remanded in custody accused of being involved in Twelfth of July rioting in south Belfast.

The 16-year-old suspect, who cannot be named because of his age, is charged with throwing a petrol bomb with intent to injure police officers or damage their property.

He faces a second count of riotous behaviour on the Ormeau Road area of the city.

Twenty-year-old Gary Kelly, of Lavinia Mews, Belfast, also appeared in the dock charged with riotous assembly on the same date.

A detective constable told Belfast Magistrates Court he could connect both accused with the charges against them.

The officer opposed the teenager’s application for bail due to the risk of any further offending.

The accused was remanded to appear again via video-link at Belfast Youth Court on Monday.

Kelly did not seek bail, with his lawyer requesting another week to gather more information.

He was remanded in custody to appear again on July 22.

Arrests over gun attack

Meanwhile, two men have been arrested in connection with a gun attack on police in the North Queen street area of Belfast in the early hours of the July 12.

The men aged 27 and 35 were taken to Antrim serious crime suite for questioning.

During sporadic incidents of disorder on Wednesday night in the Brompton Park area, a man aged in his early 20s was arrested and was released pending further enquiries.

A teenager was also arrested and is continuing to assist police.

A number of searches were carried out in the Ardoyne area on Wednesday in relation to the disorder and a number of items have been taken away for further examination.
