Due repubblicani fermati ad Armagh. Quattro accuse per possesso di armi da fuoco a Belfast

Due giovani sono stati arrestati ieri sera nella cittadina di Armagh, durante un’operazione della PSNI sulle sospette attività repubblicane.

I due arrestati hanno 21 e 23 anni.

Durante l’operazione la polizia ha scoperto un oggetto sospetto all’incrocio tra Niall’s Crescent e Friary Road.

Gli artificieri dell’esercito britannico si sono recati sul posto ed alcune abitazioni sono state evacuate. Nel corso della giornata è stato permesso agli sfollati di rientrare nelle rispettive abitazioni.

Durante un’indagine separata, quattro uomini sono stati accusati per reati connessi alle armi da fuoco. Sono comparsi questa mattina presso il tribunale di Lisburn.

Gli arresti sono stati eseguiti a West Belfast lunedì, sempre nel tentativo di contrastare le attività repubblicane.

Altri due uomini fermati nella stessa operazione sono stati rilasciati.

Two held in Armagh over dissident activity

Two men were arrested last night in Armagh city as part of a PSNI investigation into suspected dissident republican activity.

The men are aged 21 and 23.

During the operation police discovered a suspicious object at the junction of Niall’s Crescent and the Friary Road in the city.

British Army Technical Officers attended the scene and a number of houses were evacuated. Those people who left their houses last night have now been allowed to return.

In a separate investigation, four men have been charged with firearms offences. They are due to appear at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court this morning.

The arrests were made during an operation in west Belfast on Monday by detectives investigating suspected dissident republican activity.

Two other men who were arrested during the operation have been released.
