Duncan McCausland, Assistant Chief Constable, va in pensione

Uno degli ufficiali più anziani della PSNI, l’Assistente del Comandante della Polizia Duncan McCausland andrà in pensione a fine marzo nel quadro del regime di ridondanza indicato nel piano Patten

McCausland avrebbe incamerato una somma forfettaria di oltre 500.000 sterline se fosse rimasto al suo posto dopo la chiusura, che avverrà la prossima settimana, del regime voluto da Patten.

C’era la voce che McCausland sarebbe rimasto al suo posto rinunciando al pagamento.

Tuttavia, ha informato il Policing Board della volontà di abbandonare il ruolo.

La notizia arriva un mese dopo che la vice comandante della polizia Judith Gillespie ha colpito i colleghi scegliendo di non prendere il rimborso e restando al suo posto di lavoro.

Il Policing Board ha detto che l’assunzione di un nuovo Assistant Chief Constable sarà discusso con il comandante della polizia Matt Baggott nella prossima riunione del board.

Assistant Chief Constable Duncan McCausland to retire

One of the PSNI’s most senior officers, Assistant Chief Constable Duncan McCausland will retire under the Patten redundancy scheme at the end of March.

He would have forfeited a lump sum payment of more than £500,000 if he stayed in his job after the Patten scheme closes in a week’s time.

There had been speculation that ACC McCausland would remain in his post and forgo the payment.

However, he has now informed the Policing Board he is stepping down.

The news comes a month after Deputy Chief Constable Judith Gillespie stunned colleagues by opting not to take the package and remain in her job.

The Policing Board has said the recruitment of a new assistant chief constable will be discussed with the chief constable at the board’s next meeting.
