Peter Robinson dice che il suo partito non è pronto per un accordo sul trasferimento dei poteri su polizia in Irlanda del Nord
Erano grandi le speranze per il raggiungimento, nel corso della giornata di oggi, di un accordo su polizia, giustizie e parate dopo il proseguimento dei colloqui.
In precedenza lo Sinn Fein riteneva l’accordo in dirittura d’arrivo ma dopo 4 ore di discussioni interne il leader del DUP ha riferito che il suo partito necessita di più tempo.
Ma mentre lasciava un incontro con il suo gruppo parlamentare Robinson ha affermato: “Il gruppo ha identificato, a causa dei negoziati non completati, alcune questioni da risolvere e cose di cui ha bisogno per essere soddisfatto”.
E’ l’ultimo ritardo nei colloqui che sono in corso da oltre una settimana a Hillsborough Castle, nella Contea di Down, nel tentativo di risolvere uno stallo nel trasferimento dei poteri di polizia e giustizia da Westminster a Stormont.
Robinson ha indicato che il suo partito vuol veder proseguire le istituzioni politiche decentrate.
Ha detto di voler incontrare in seguito i rappresentanti dei governi inglesi ed irlandesi, così come i membri degli altri partiti politici.
“Il processo è quello cui ci siamo impegnati come partito politico”, ha affermato.
Il primo ministro britannico Gordon Brown ed il Taoiseach irlandese Brian Cowen sono pronti a volare a Belfast per mostrare il loro sostegno qualora fosse raggiunto un accordo.

There had been hope that an agreement on policing, justice and parades would be sealed during talks on Monday.
Earlier, Sinn Fein said it believed a deal was in reach but after at least four hours of internal discussions the DUP leader said his party needed more time.
But after leaving a meeting of his assembly group Mr Robinson said: “The group has identified, because the negotiations have not been completed, some issues that have to be resolved and items about which they need to be satisfied.”
It is the latest delay in talks which have been running for more than a week at Hillsborough Castle, County Down, aimed at resolving an impasse on the devolution of policing and justice powers from Westminster to Stormont.
Mr Robinson indicated his party wanted to see the devolved political institutions continue.
He said he would meet representatives from the British and Irish Governments later, as well as members of the other political parties.
“The process is one that we have committed ourselves to as a political party,” he said.
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and Irish Taoiseach Brian Cowen had been prepared to fly to Belfast to show their support should a deal be reached.
