Ecco il ragazzo accusato della morte del poliziotto
Police murder accused revealed
THIS is the teenager who is charged with urdering Constable Stephen Carroll.
John Paul Wootton can today be named and pictured for the first time as he turns 18.
Mr Wootton, who was questioned for 13 days under new anti-terrorism laws, is accused of killing the 48-year-old officer in Craigavon, Co Armagh, on March 9.
He is also charged with Continuity IRA membership, having an assault rifle with intent and collecting information likely to be of use to terrorists.
Because of his age, Mr Wootton is being held on remand at Hydebank Young Offenders Centre on the outskirts of south Belfast rather than in an adult prison.
Former Sinn Fein councillor Brendan McConville (37), of Glenholme Avenue, Lurgan, is also charged with the murder. He is being held in Roe House, the republican wing of Maghaberry jail, near Lisburn, Co Antrim.
Mr Wootton’s 13-day detention is the longest a juvenile has been held in Britain or Northern Ireland under the Terrorism Act 2006.
The controversial law allows police to detain suspects for up to 28 days without charge.
