Elezioni di Stormont: 218 candidati a caccia di 108 seggi

La lista dei candidati alle elezioni del 5 maggio per l’Assemblea è stata pubblicata dall’Electoral Office

Il numero dei candidati è calato di quasi 40 unità rispetto alle elezioni del 2007.

Un totale di 208 candidati si contenderanno 108 seggi. Quindi quasi un candidato su due sarà eletto a Stormont.

Il DUP ha il maggior numero di candidati con 44 unità, seguito dallo Sinn Fein con 40.

L’Ulster Unionist Party, che ha 29 candidati, sorprendentemente non si presenterà nella circoscrizione di Foyle, mentre lo SDLP mette in campo 28 candidati.

L’Alliance Party presente 22 candidati, il numero più elevato nelle sue tornate elettorali.

Il Green Party si candida in 6 circoscrizioni, mentre il People Before Profit Alliance ed il Workers Party saranno presenti in 4 circoscrizioni e il Socialist Party in 3.

Dei partiti che si presentano per la prima volta alle elezioni per l’Assemblea, il Traditional Unionist Voice ha la più larga rappresentanza con 12 candidati, seguito dall’UKIP con 6 e dal BNP con 3.

Ci sono anche 15 candidati indipendenti.

L’elettorato di East Belfast avrà il maggior numero di candidati sulla scheda elettorale, con 17 nomi, mentre in South Antrim c’è il numero più basso con 10.

NI Assembly election: 218 candidates chase 108 seats

The full list of candidates standing in the assembly election on 5 May has been published by the Electoral Office.

The overall number of people standing in this election is down by almost 40 on the last assembly poll in 2007.

A total of 218 candidates are chasing 108 seats, which means that close to half of those standing will be going to Stormont.

The DUP has the largest number of candidates with 44; followed by Sinn Fein with 40.

The Ulster Unionists, who have 29 candidates, are surprisingly not standing in Foyle, while the SDLP is fielding 28 candidates.

The Alliance Party is standing 22 candidates, its biggest number for an assembly election.

The Green Party is standing in six constituencies, while the People Before Profit Alliance and the Workers Party are standing in four and the Socialist Party in three.

Of the parties appearing for the first time in an assembly election, Traditional Unionist Voice has the largest representation with 12 candidates followed by UKIP with six; and the BNP with three.

There are also 15 Independents.

The electorate in East Belfast will have the largest number of candidates on their ballot papers, with 17; the voters of South Antrim will have the fewest with 10.
