“E’ con enorme tristezza che ho appreso della morte di Geoff Kerr, membro del partito di Templepatrick ucciso la scorsa notte nella sua casa. In questo momento veramente triste vorrei estendere le mie più sincere condoglianze alla sua famiglia – a sua moglie Sally e ai suoi quattro figlia, che saranno devastati per la morte di un marito e padre. I miei pensieri e le preghiere sono con loro.
“Sebbene non conoscessi Geoff personalmente ho capito che è entrato nel nostro partito lo scorso anno e sabato ha assistito al nostro AGM (Annual General Meeting – Riunione Generale Annuale). Da questa mattina ho parlato con diversi colleghi di partito e Geoff è stato descritto come un gentiluomo, un uomo di famiglio e una persona con un’illimitata energia.
“Ora vorrei chiedere a chiunque abbia informazioni in relazione all’incidente di recarsi alla polizia. I responsabili di questo terribile assassinio devono essere portati davanti alla giustizia”.
Anche il consigliere dell’Ulster Unionist Party ad Antrim, Danny Kinahin, ha condannato l’omicidio e reiterato il suggerimento di Empey di fornire informazioni alla polizia.
Sadness over death of Party Member
“It was with great sadness that I learnt of the death of Geoff Kerr, a party member from Templepatrick at his home last night following a fatal shooting. At this truly sad time I wish to extend my most sincere sympathy to his family – to his wife Sally and to his four sons who will have been left devastated by the loss of a husband and father. My thoughts and prayers are with them.”
“Although I did not know Geoff personally I understand he only joined the party last year and on Saturday attended our AGM. Since this morning I have spoken to Party colleagues and Geoff has been described as a gentleman, a family man and as a man with boundless energy.”
“At this time I would ask that anyone with information in relation to the incident to come forward to police. Those responsible for this terrible killing must be brought to justice.”
Ulster Unionist Councillor for Antrim, Danny Kinahin also condemned the shooting and reiterated Sir Reg’s call for members of the public to come forward.
