Si tratta del secondo presunto ordigno trovato nella zona di Feeney nelle ultime due settimane
Un’esplosione controllata è stata eseguita dagli artificieri dell’esercito su un oggetto che si è rivelato un ordigno in grado di esplodere.
La bomba è stata trovata vicino Claudy, nella zona di Feeney, durante un allarme sicurezza e gli artificieri l’hanno neutralizzata tramite epslosione controllata.
Si tratta del secondo ordigno ritrovato dalle forze di sicurezza nelle ultime due settimane.

Il Soprintendente John Magill ha detto: “Questo ‘ il secondo allarme sicurezza nell’area da metà novembre. Ancora una volta abbiamo dovuto chiudere strade e causare disagio alla comunità.
“La gente sta cercando di andare per la sua strada. Vogliono portare i figli a scuola, visitare gli anziani parenti e proseguire con la settimana lavorativa. L’ultima cosa di cui hanno bisogno è il disagio procurato da questo tipo di incidenti.
“Abbiamo agenti presenti nell’area da ieri sera. Questi poliziotti hanno lavorato duramente per tenere al sicuro la gente durante l’allarme sicurezza.
“Tuttavia gli agenti sarebbero stati impiegati meglio in altri luoghi, durante le ultime 21 ore. Ad esempio arrestando spacciatori, autisti ubriachi o lavorando con le vittime di abusi domestici.
“La responsabilità per questo incidente è tutta di chi ha piazzato avventatamente questo ordigno. Il mio messaggio per queste persone è semplice: date pace alla comunità”.
L’allarme sicurezza dovrebbe proseguire fino a domani mattina.

It’s the second suspected bomb found in the Feeney area in two weeks
A suspect device blown up by the Army tonight in Co Derry was a viable bomb, the police have confirmed.
The bomb was found in the Feeney area during a security alert and a controlled explosion was carried out by army technical officers.
It is the second device dealt with by security forces in the last two weeks.

PSNI Superintendent John Magill said: “This is the second security alert in the area since mid-November. Again, we have had road closures and disruption caused to a rural community.
“People are trying to go about their day to day lives. They are trying to get children to school, visit elderly relatives and go about their working week. The last thing people need is the recklessness and disruption created by these incidents.
“We have had officers in the area since yesterday evening.These officers have worked hard to keep people safe during the security alert.
“However, these same officers could have been better used in meeting areas of community concern during the past 21 hours. Arresting drug dealers, drink drivers or working with victims of domestic abuse, for example.
“The blame for this incident lies squarely on the reckless individuals who placed the device. My message for them is simple; give the community a break.”
The security alert is expected to continue until tomorrow and S upt Magill urged the public to call the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with any information about the incident.
