Un ex soldato dell’esercito inglese è comparso in tribunale accusato di aver lanciato minacce contro il leader dello Sinn Féin, Gerry Adams, e altri quattro membri del partito.
Eric Rohloff, 39 anni di Bangor, deve rispondere di 14 reati tra cui aver emesso minacce di morte, procurato allarme e cattivo uso delle comunicazioni pubbliche.
Il Sunday Life ha riportato che Rohloff è accusato di aver minacciato di uccidere Mickey Brady, Sinn Féin, e di aver provocato allarmi bomba presso le abitazioni di Gerry Adams e Martina Anderson.
Sarebbe responsabile anche per gli allarmi bomba contro il parlamentare shinner Raymond McCartney.
Al tribunale di Belfast si è udito Rohloff fare le minacce durante le telefonate ai Samaritani di Coleraine e Omagh e agli uffici dello Sinn Féin a Derry e Armagh.
Rohloff è accusato anche di aver compiuto simili minacce contro la Mehria Primary School, una scuola primaria islamica di Luton, in Inghilterra.
In aula è stato ricordato che Rohloff avrebbe chiamato i Samaritani il 4 maggio minacciando di uccidere Mickey Brady e sempre lo stesso giorno ha chiamato gli uffici dell’organizzazione di Omagh dicendo che c’era una bomba a casa della parlamentare europea Martina Anderson.
Rohloff ha anche telefonato ad un ufficio dello Sinn Féin a Derry, il 5 maggio, riferendo della presenza di ordigni nelle case di Raymond McCartney e Martina Anderson. Ha chiamato anche una persona, minacciando nuovamente di voler uccidere Brady.
L’ex militare avrebbe chiamato l’Andersonstown News per avvertire della presenza di una bomba a casa di Gerry Adams a West Belfast.
Non è stata fatta alcuna richiesta di rilascio con la condizionale e Eric Rohloff è stato rimandato in custodia. Apparirà nuovamente in video collegamento giovedì.
Sul profilo Facebook di Rohloff c’è scritto che ha fatto parte della Territorial Army fino al 2012 e sono presenti fotografie in uniforma militare.
Secondo il suo profilo, avrebbe viaggiato a lungo in Canada, dove avrebbe presentato richiesta di residenza.

Ex-soldier accused of bomb threats against Gerry Adams
A FORMER Territorial Army soldier has appeared in court charged with making bomb threats against Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams and four other party members.
Eric Rohloff (39) from Clifton Road, Bangor faced 14 charges including making threats to kill, wasting police time and misuse of public communications.
The Sunday Life reported that Mr Rohloff is accused of threatening to kill Sinn Féin’s Mickey Brady and of causing bomb alerts at the home of Mr Adams and Martina Anderson in May.
He is also alleged to have made bomb warnings against Sinn Féin assembly member Raymond McCartney.
Belfast magistrates court heard Mr Rohloff made the threats in phone calls to the Samaritans in Coleraine and Omagh as well as Sinn Féin offices in Derry and Armagh.
He is also accused of making a bomb threat against Mehria Primary School, an independent Islamic primary school in Luton, England.
The court heard he allegedly called the Samaritans in Coleraine on May 4 threatening to kill Mr Brady and later that day phoned the organisation’s Omagh office claiming there was a bomb at the home of MEP Ms Anderson.
He is accused of phoning a Sinn Féin office in Derry the following day claiming there were bombs at the homes of Mr McCartney and Ms Anderson as well as telephoning an individual threatening again to kill Mr Brady.
The court heard he allegedly called the Andersonstown News to say there was a bomb at the house of the Sinn Féin president in west Belfast.
No bail application was made in court on Saturday and he was remanded into custody to appear via videolink on Thursday.
It is understood Mr Rohloff has lived in his home on Clifton Road, just off the Ballyholme Road, in Bangor for five years.
On his Facebook profile, it states he was a member of the Territorial Army until 2012 and he has posted a number of photographs of himself in military uniform.
According to his social media profile, he has travelled extensively to Canada, where it is believed he had applied for residency.
He has also posted pictures of several holidays to Denmark.
