Gerry Adams chiede al fratello Liam di consegnarsi alla polizia

Appello del presidente dello Sinn Fein a Liam Adams, che deve rispondere di accuse di abuso su minori

Gerry Adams ha lanciato un appello ad un fratello di consegnarsi alla polizia e affrontare le accuse di abuso sessuale su minori. La vittima delle violenze sarebbe la figlia di Liam Adams.

Le polizie di entrambi i lati del confine cercano Liam, il fratello più giovane del presidente dello Sinn Fein, che non si è presentato all’udienza preliminare nel tribunale di Belfast, per presunti abusi su minore.

In un comunicato rilasciato dallo Sinn Fein, Gerry Adams dice di credere alle affermazioni e quindi la vittima “deve ottenere giustizia”. Il parlamentare di West Belfast afferma: “Sin dal primo giorno ho parlato [con la vittima] sugli abusi che ha sofferto. Le credo. Deve ottenere giustizia. L’unico modo in cui può avvenire è attraverso i tribunali. Ho fatto una dichiarazione alla PSNI in sostegno della vittima”.

Gli investigatori della PSNI stanno lavorando con la Garda Siochána per trovare Liam Adams.

Originario di Ballymurphy, Liam Adams era un repubblicano ma non è mai entrato nello Sinn Fein.

Avrebbe dovuto rispondere agli investigatori di un’unità della PSNI riguardo a gravi accuse di sesso su minore. Le indagini comprendono voci anche di anni precedenti.

Recentemente ha lasciato la sua casa nella zona di Andersontown, a West Belfast, che ora è in vendita.

Sinn Féin president appeals to Liam Adams to hand himself over to police

Gerry Adams appealed to one of his brothers today to hand himself over to police and face allegations of child sex abuse.

Police on both sides of the Irish border are looking for Liam Adams, the Sinn Féin president’s younger brother, who failed to appear at a preliminary inquiry in a Belfast court over a case concerning allegations of child abuse.

In a statement released by Sinn Féin, Gerry Adams said he believed the allegation and said the victim in question “must get justice”.The West Belfast MP said: “Since the first day I spoke to her [the victim] about the abuse she suffered, I believed her. She must get justice. The only way this can happen now is through the courts. I have made a statement to the PSNI in support of her.”

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland have been working with the Garda Síochána to find Liam Adams.

Originally from Ballymurphy, Liam Adams was a republican but was never active in Sinn Féin.

He is understood to have been questioned by detectives from the PSNI’s care unit in relation to serious child sex allegations. The investigation involves allegations dating back a number of years.

He has recently moved from his house in the Andersonstown area of west Belfast and it is now up for sale.
