Gerry Adams ispirato da Christy Moore

Mentre Christy Moore è conosciuto per aver portato il repubblicanesimo nel suo lavoro, adesso sembra che lo Sinn Fein sia ispirato dalla sua musica.

Il presidente del partito Gerry Adams guarda al secondo anniversario del governo condiviso, che sarà raggiunto l’8 maggio prossimo.

“Questo è il più lungo periodo di funzionamento delle istituzioni politiche da quando il vecchio regime di Stormont è stato chiuso nel 1972”, ha scritto questa settimana.

Adams si è focalizzato sullo sviluppo delle relazioni tra il suo partito ed il DUP (Democratic Unionist Party). Il presidente degli shinner ha detto che il partito unionista ha speso decenni a cercare di distruggere lo Sinn Fein, ma adesso è al governo insieme ai repubblicani.

Ha accusato il DUP, comunque, di essere coinvolto in litigi con lo Sinn Fein e di rilasciare commenti pubblici negativi assolutamente non necessari.

“Forse riflettono le loro insicurezze. Forse ci credono davvero”, fa sapere Adams.

Ma ha preso ispirazione dalla sua collezione musicale, quotando il testo della canzone Lisdoonvarna di Chrosty Moore, ed ha aggiunto:

Who knows? Who can tell?
Is this heaven or is this hell?
Anyone for the last few Choc Ices?

Chi lo sa? Chi può dirlo?
Questo è il paradiso o l’inferno?

Adams inspired by Christy Moore’s notes

While Christy Moore has been known to draw on republicanism in his work, now it seems Sinn Fein is being inspired by his music.

Party president Gerry Adams was looking forward to the second anniversary of the power-sharing government which is set to be reached on May 8.

“That’s the longest period that the political institutions have been functioning since the old Stormont regime was stood down in 1972,” he wrote this week.

Mr Adams focused on his party’s developing relationship with the DUP. He said the unionist party had spent decades trying to smash Sinn Fein, but was now in government with republicans.

He accused the DUP of, nevertheless, engaging in sham fights with Sinn Fein and of remaining unnecessarily negative in its public comments. “Maybe they have worked out that this is the line the unionist constituency wants to hear.

“Maybe it reflects their own insecurities. Maybe they really believe it,” he said.

But he drew inspiration from his record collection, quoting Christy Moore’s Lisdoonvarna lyrics, and added: “Who knows? Who can tell? Is this heaven or is this hell? Anyone for the last few Choc Ices?”
