Il presidente dello Sinn Fein ha bollato come “totalmente e assolutamente inaccettabili” i tentativi del DUP di usare l’argomento parate come precondizione per il trasferimento dei poteri sulla sicurezza
La richiesta giunge dopo che il primo ministro Peter Robinson ha parlato ai parlamentari di Westminster di “imperativo politico” per risolvere la questione delle parate in Irlanda del Nord, prima del trasferimento dei poteri di polizia e giustizia, durante un dibattito portato avanti dal DUP nella House of Commons, avvenuto martedì sera.
Robinson ha chiesto l’abolizione della Parades Commission, il cui compito è di imporre delle restrizioni alle parate che sono contenziose.
Il primo ministro ha parlato della Commissione “non come soluzione ai problemi, ma come parte del problema stesso”.
Giovedì, Adams ha detto: “L’Orange Order e l’Orangismo è parte di ciò che siamo come nazione”.
Dialogo
“I repubblicani irlandesi vogliono un dialogo con le istituzioni lealiste in modo da poter comprendere ed apprezzare la posizione dell’altro”.
Lo Sinn Fein ed il DUP si sono incontrati per discutere dei commenti eseguiti da Robinson a Westminster, che hanno sollevato la rabbia dei repubblicani.
Adams riferisce che la questione delle parate non può essere mischiato con il dibattito su giustizia e polizia.
“E’ stato raggiunto l’accordo? Sì.
“Era guidato da Martin McGuinness, ma coinvolgeva il primo ministro Peter Robinson – e Peter Robinson lo ha firmato. Questo è un argomento nettamente separato e non può essere risolto come una precondizione – è totalmente e assolutamente inaccettabile”.

Policing preconditions ‘unacceptable’ – Adams
The Sinn Fein President has branded as “totally and absolutely unacceptable” any attempts by the DUP to attach the parades issue as a precondition to policing devolution.
It comes after First Minister Peter Robinson told MPs of the “political imperative” to resolve issues of parading in Northern Ireland before policing and justice powers were devolved, during a DUP-led debate in the Commons on Tuesday night.
Mr Robinson also called for the abolition of the Parades Commission, which is responsible for placing restrictions on parades that it deems contentious.
He branded it “not a solution to problems but part of the problem itself”.
On Thursday, Mr Adams said: “The Orange Order and Orangeism is part of who we are as a nation.
‘Dialogue’
“Irish republicans want a dialogue with the loyal institutions in order that we can understand and appreciate each other’s position.”
Sinn Fein and the DUP have met to discuss the comments made by Mr Robinson at Westminster, which prompted angry responses from republicans.
Mr Adams has said the parades issue cannot now be mixed up with the policing and justice debate.
“Has the deal been done? Yes.
“It was led by Martin McGuinness, but it involved the First Minister Peter Robinson – and Peter Robinson has signed on for that. This is an issue which is distinctly separate and which will not be resolved as a precondition – it’s totally and absolutely unacceptable.”
