“La fusione non è una sorpresa, nonostante la natura litigiosa di coloro che sono dietro a tali gruppi”, ha affermato il parlamentare nazionalista.
“In questi hanno si sono uniti, divisi e riformati.
“Quello che è molto chiaro da questa mossa è … che non hanno alcuna strategia e le loro finalità sono chiare come il fango. AAD (il Republican Action Against Drugs, Ndt), per esempio, ha affermato di essere un gruppo anti-droga che ora si è unito ad un gruppo più grande e con finalità differenti.
“Questo sembra avere a che fare più con l’ego e i feudi personali che con qualsiasi altra cosa.
“Questo non vuol dire che non possono essere pericolosi. In passatto hanno ucciso delle persone, la maggior parte delle queli provenienti dalla comunità nazionalista.
“Tuttavia queste azioni non possono portarci da nessuna parte. Nel frattempo, mettono a repentaglio la vita e la libertà dei giovani, persone impressionabili, senza ottenere nulla.
“Non c’è il supporto della comunità per questi gruppi. Devono desistere, e hanno bisogno di rendersi conto che non possono raggiungere un’Irlanda unita in questo modo.
“C’è una strategia politica in atto, approvata dalla stragrande maggioranza dei repubblicani e nazionalisti irlandesi, insieme alla maggioranza delle persone su questa isola”.
I tre gruppi armati repubblicani che intendono rivendicare il nome e la credibilità dell’IRA sono la Real IRA, il Republican Action Against Drugs – gruppo responsabile di una campagna contro la droga a Derry – e una coalizione di gruppi indipendenti e armati, lasciando solamente la Continuity IRA fuori da questo gruppo.
La nuova organizzazione ha sostenuto di aver formato una “struttura unitaria, sotto una leadership unica”.
L’organizzazione sarebbe “asservita alla costituzione dell’Esercito Repubblicano Irlandese”.
Il nuovo gruppo ha spiegato: “Negli ultimi anni la creazione di un’Irlanda libera e indipendente ha subito battute d’arresto a causa del fallimento della leadership del nazionalismo irlandese e per le fratture all’interno del repubblicanesimo.”.
Si legge sul comunicato della nuova formazione repubblicana: “La popolazione irlandese è stata venduta per una falsa pace, siglata da una legislatura a gettoni a Stormont”.

“The coming together is not surprising given the fractious nature of those who are behind such groupings,” he said.
“They have over the past number of years come and gone, split and reformed.
“What is very clear from this move is … that they have no strategy and their aims are as clear as mud. AAD, for example, has claimed to be an anti-drugs group who have now joined a larger dissident group with different aims.
“This appears to be more to do with egos and personal fiefdoms than anything else.
“That is not to say that they cannot be dangerous. They have in the past killed people, the majority of whom have been from the nationalist community.
“However these actions can take us nowhere. Meanwhile they are happy to risk the lives and liberty of young, impressionable people to achieve nothing.
“There is no community support for these groups. They need to desist, and they need to realise that they cannot achieve a united Ireland in this way.
“There is a political strategy in place which the vast majority of Irish republicans and nationalists, along with the overwhelming majority of the people on this island, have endorsed.”
The three of the four dissident republican terror groups in Northern Ireland which are attempting to claim the title and credibility of the IRA are the “Real IRA,” Republican Action Against Drugs, which has been running a violent vigilante campaign in Derry, and a coalition of independent armed republican groups — leaving only the Continuity IRA outside the new group.
The new organisation claimed it had formed a “unified structure, under a single leadership.”
It said the organisation would be “subservient to the constitution of the Irish Republican Army.”
The new group said: “In recent years the establishment of a free and independent Ireland has suffered setbacks due to the failure among the leadership of Irish nationalism and fractures within republicanism.”
The dissidents’ statement said: “The Irish people have been sold a phoney peace, rubber-stamped by a token legislature in Stormont.”
