Gli slogan pro-IRA e le minacce di far esplodere, bruciare e sparare ai protestanti sono state scritte su un nuovo complesso residenziale a Newtownabbey.
Le minacce appaiano sul muro dell’ex Felden Training Centre, vicino alla zona di Mill Road.
I responsabili delle scritte sono accusati di voler creare un ghetto settario.
Andy Allen, Ulster Unionist Party, ha detto: “Sono totalmente disgustato dall’ultimo tentativo di innalzare le tensioni a North Belfast, focalizzate sull’ex Felden Training Centre, poco fuori da Mill Road.
“Domenica sera dei graffiti sono stati fatti sui locali commerciali della zona e indicano che qualsiasi protestante che cercherà di trasferirsi in uno dei 97 appartamento costruiti qui da Clanmil Housing, saranno fatti esplodere, bruciati e colpiti da priettili.
“C’è anche una minaccia contro una specifica persona di Clamnil Housing.
“Proprio all’inizio di questo progetto molte persone avevano timori per il fatto che il sito di Felden non era adatto allo sviluppo di alloggi intercomunitari, data la sua vicinanza con delle aree repubblicane come Bawnmore e Longlands.
“Questo incidente è solo l’ultimo di una serie, chiaramente progettati per intimidire i protestanti che possono pensare di far domanda per le abitazioni.
“È triste che a North Belfast ci sia stata una lunga storia di pulizia etnica dei protestanti da aree come Cliftonville Road, Antrim Road e Torrens Estate.
“Questo fine settimana ha visto un attacco settario contro una proprietà su Skegoneil Avenue.
“Chiaramente, nonostante le belle parole sul futuro condiviso e il nobile intento di creare uno spazio di condivisione, ci sono elementi all’interno della comunità nazionalista e repubblicana che non sono disposti a condividere gli immobili di Felden con chiunque provenga da un ambiente protestante o unionista”.
Il progetto da 11.500.000 sterline dovrebbe essere ultimato nel mese di ottobre.
Negli ultimi mesi c’è stato un innalzamento delle tensioni comunitarie a North Belfast.
Venerdì scorso, bande rivali di giovani unionisti e nazionalisti si sono dati appuntamento nella zona di Skegoniel per una lotta con coltelli e bastoni.
Il mese scorso una lunga disputa sulla contenziosa parata dell’Orange Order, intenzionato a percorrere un tratto di Crumlin Road, è sfociata in gravi violenze.
La PSNI ha confermato che gli agenti stanno indagando per un danneggiamento a Longlands Road, Newtownabbey.

Pro-IRA slogans and threats to bomb, burn-out and shoot Protestants have been daubed in a new housing estate in Newtownabbey.
The threats appeared on the site of the former Felden Training Centre close to the Mill Road area.
Those responsible for the graffiti were accused of trying to create a sectarian ghetto.
Ulster Unionist Andy Allen said: “I am absolutely disgusted at the latest attempt to whip up community tensions in North Belfast, centred on the former Felden Training Centre site just off the Mill Road.
“On Sunday night graffiti was sprayed on commercial premises in the area, indicating that any Protestants who attempted to move into the 97 units being built there by Clanmil Housing, would be ‘bombed out, burnt out and shot.’
“There was also a threat against a named employee of Clanmil Housing.
“Right at the outset of this project many people had concerns that the Felden site was not suitable for developing shared housing given its proximity to hardline republican areas such as Bawnmore and Longlands.
“This graffiti incident is the latest in a number of incidents which are clearly designed to intimidate Protestants who may be thinking of applying for housing in the new development.
“It is a sad fact that North Belfast endured a long history of ethnic cleansing of Protestants from areas such as the Cliftonville Road, Antrim Road, and Torrens Estate.
“This weekend saw a sectarian attack on property on Skegoneil Avenue.
“Clearly in spite of fine words of a shared future, and the noble intention of creating an area of shared housing, there are elements within the nationalist and republican community who are not prepared to share the Felden Housing site with anyone from a Protestant or unionist community background.”
The £11.5 million project is due for completion in October.
Sectarian tensions have been increasing in North Belfast over recent months.
On Friday, rival gangs of unionist and nationalist youths gathered with knives and sticks for a pre-arranged fight in the Skegoniel area.
Last month, a long-running dispute over an Orange Order march on a contested stretch of the Crumlin Road also erupted into serious violence.
Clanmil Housing was approached for comment.
PSNI confirmed officers were investigating criminal damage at Longlands Road, Newtownabbey.
A spokesman appealed for anyone with information to contact the neighbourhood policing team at Newtownabbey on the non-emergency 101 number.
