Graffito a Lurgan si fa beffe di Ronan Kerr

Un graffito “stupido ed insensibile” che si fa beffe dell’omicidio dell’agente di polizia Ronan Kerr è apparso a Lurgan.

Lo slogan, che recita “Ronan a Kerr – noi non interessa”, è stato dipinto a spruzzo su una pensilina di Levin Road durante il fine settimana.

I politici di entrambi i lati della comunità hanno bollato i responsabili come “gente malata di mente”.

Il parlamentare del DUP David Simpson ha dichiarato: “Questo vile graffito è il tipo di prova grossolanamente offensiva che dimostra la presenza di persone motivate ​​- non dall’amore per il paese o per principio politico – ma solo dall’odio per gli altri.”

Ha continuato: “Questo era un giovane e coraggioso cattolico che si era unito alla polizia al fine di servire la comunità.

“E’ stato brutalmente assassinato senza pietà a causa del desiderio di servire gli altri. I malati di mente responsabili di questo hanno mostrato solo la propria bancarotta totale”.

Il consigliere shinner Johnny McGibbon ha chiesto loro di “crescere”.

Ha aggiunto che lo Sinn Féin aveva contattato il Craigavon Borough Council per far rimuovere lo slogan incriminato.

“Il Community Safety Partnership del Consiglio ha organizzato la rimozione urgente di questi graffiti e diamo il benvenuto alla loro risposta rapida sulla questione”, ha detto.

“Le persone che hanno scritto questo slogan in un luogo pubblico sembrano essere totalmente all’oscuro dei sentimenti veri della comunità locale.

“La stragrande maggioranza dei residenti nel nord di Lurgan sono sconvolti da questo teppismo irragionevole che in nessun modo riflette le opinioni o i valori di questa comunità”.

Dolores Kelly, parlamentare dello SDLP, ha descritto il graffito come “volgare e insensibile”.

Ha detto: “Purtroppo c’è ancora una piccola minoranza della comunità coinvolta in questo tipo di comportamento.

“Ovviamente vorrei condannare questo oltraggio e spero venga pulito il più presto possibile.

“Questo non è certamente indicativo dell’ampia comunità di nord Lurgan.

“In effetti, ci fu un incidente simile alcui mesi fa e i residenti si sono adoperati per rimuovere i graffiti”.

Ha aggiunto: “Questo scarabocchio è solo volgare e insensibile, e deve essere rimosso immediatamente”.

Un portavoce del Craigavon ​​Borough Council ha confermato che i graffiti sono stati cancellati.

“Crass and insensitive” graffiti mocking the murder of police constable Ronan Kerr has appeared in Lurgan Tarry.

The slogan, which reads “Ronan Kerr – we don’t care”, was spray painted onto a bus shelter on the Levin Road sometime over the weekend.

Politicians from both sides of the community have rounded on those responsible for the writing, with the local MP describing them as “sick-minded people”.

DUP MP David Simpson said: “This vile graffiti is the kind of grossly insulting evidence that shows that there are people who are motivated – not by love for country or out of political principle – but solely out of hatred for others.”

He continued: “This was a brave young Catholic man who had joined the police in order to serve the community.

“He was viciously and callously murdered because of that wish to serve others. The sick-minded people responsible for this only displayed their own utter bankruptcy.”

Sinn Fein councillor Johnny McGibbon called on them to “grow up”.

He added that Sinn Féin had contacted Craigavon Borough Council to have the offending slogan removed.

“The Council’s Community Safety Partnership has arranged for this offensive graffiti to be removed as a matter of urgency and we welcome their quick response on the issue,” he said.

“Those individuals who painted this slogan in a public place appear to be totally unaware of the true feelings of the local community.

“The vast majority of residents in north Lurgan are appalled by this mindless hooliganism which in no way reflects the views or the values of this community.”

SDLP MLA Dolores Kelly described the writing as “crass and insensitive”.

She said: “Unfortunately there is still a small minority in the community involved in this type of behaviour.

“Obviously I would condemn this outright and hope it is cleaned up as soon as possible.

“This is certainly not indicative of the wider community in north Lurgan.

“Indeed, there was a similar incident a number of months ago and people living in the area came out to remove the sinister graffiti.”

She added: “This scrawl is just crass and insensitive, and needs to be removed immediately.”

A spokesperson from Craigavon Borough Council has confirmed that the graffiti has since been painted over.
