Mentra la pagina offre sostegno alle attività dei repubblicani non allineati al processo di pace, in gran parte si rivolge alla comunità in cui opera. Il sito, che si trova su Facebook, è utilizzato per promuovere la letteratura e i punti di vista repubblicani e per lanciare feroci bordate verbali contro lo Sinn Fein.
Il sito contiene anche una serie di gravi attacchi personali nei confronti delle vittime della violenza repubblicana, le loro famiglie e amici.
Mentre l’identità del gestore del sito è anonima, importanti repubblicani hanno spesso inviato risposte ad alcuni dei commenti.
Ma un nuovo punto basso è stato raggiunto questa settimana, quando, alla vigilia del funerale di David Black a Cookstown, sul sito si leggeva una battuta offensiva sulla sua morte.
Il sito repubblicano fa riferimento anche alla richiesta della famiglia Black rivolta ai membri dello Sinn Fein, cui viene domandato di non presentarsi al funerale, aggiungendo: “Ora McGuinness dirà a tutti coloro che lo ascoltano come i cattolici e protestanti possono camminare mano nella mano soffiando bolle di sapone, mentre anche i cani sulle strade sanno la cruda verità. L’Orange Orde, i lealisti, i parassiti della RUC/PSNI e lo Sinn Fein trattano i nazionalisti/cattolici come cittadini di seconda classe”.
Gregory Campbell ha detto che il sito ha mostrato la mentalità dei repubblicani che cercano di distruggere il processo di pace.
Ha affermato: “C’è stata ripugnanza assai diffusa in ogni settore della società per l’assassinio di David Black, e non c’è stato nessuno che ha tentato di difenderlo pubblicamente o scusarlo. Quando la gente ha assistito alle scene del funerale, chiunque hanno condiviso in qualche misura tutto quel dolore.
“Poi invece abbiamo una persona o un gruppo che, nonostante tutto, sembra stia glorificando l’uccisione settaria a sangue freddo”.
Campbell ha detto questo comportamento e questa mentalità, pur essendo lquella di un gruppo molto ristretto, sottolinea la distanza che l’Irlanda del Nord deve ancora percorrere nel processo politico.
Lo stesso politico unionista l’anno scorso fu oggetto di messaggi di odio pubblicati sempre su Facebook, che portò in tribunale un uomo.

Offensive ‘dissident’ website slammed
While the web page offers support to dissident republican activities, its bile is largely aimed at the community in which it operates. The website, to be found on Facebook, is used to promote dissident republican literature and viewpoints and to launch vicious verbal broadsides at Sinn Fein.
The site also contains a host of malicious, personal attacks against victims of dissident republican violence, their families and friends.
While the identity of the site operator is anonymous, prominent dissident republicans have often posted replies to some of the comments.
But a new low was reached this week when, on the eve of the funeral in Cookstown of Mr Black, who was gunned down on the M1 as he made his way to work at Maghaberry prison, the website posted an offensive joke about his death.
The dissident republican site also referred to the Black family’s request for Sinn Fein members to stay away from Tuesday’s funeral, adding: “Now McGuinness will tell all who will listen to him how Catholics and Protestants walk around hand in hand blowing bubbles when the dogs in the streets know the real truth. Orange Order loyalist vermin RUC/PSNI and Sinn Fein treating Catholics/ nationalists as second class.”
Gregory Campbell said the website showed up the mentality of the dissidents trying to wreck the peace process.
He said: “There was fairly widespread and comprehensive revulsion from every section of society at the murder of David Black, and there was nobody who even attempted to publicly defend it or excuse it. When people would have witnessed the scenes at the funeral everyone would have shared in some degree in their grief.
“Then we get a person or a group who, despite all that, appear to be glorying in the killing in a cold-blooded sectarian way.”
Mr Campbell said this behaviour and mentality, despite being the mindset of a very small group, underscores the distance that Northern Ireland has yet to travel in the political process.
He himself was last year the subject of a hate-filled rant on a facebook site, which resulted in a man being prosecuted.
