GRRC: PSNI assente mentre Orange Order tenta di entrare in quartiere nazionalista

In una dichiarazione rilasciata due giorni fa, la Garvaghy Road Residents Coalition ha accusa la PSNI di collusione con l’Orange Order di Portadown, nel tentativo di creare una situazione di confronto con i residenti nazionalisti.

Un portavoce della GRRC ha affermato:

“La scorsa settimana, la Commissione Parate ha emanato una decisione riguardante una parata proposta dai membri dell’Orange Order di Drumcree. La parata era pianificata per mercoledì sera. Sebbene la PSNI fosse a conoscenza della decisione, che impediva agli orangisti di non proseguire oltre il ponte a Drumcree, nessun agente di polizia era presente per far rispettare la determinazione della Commissione.

“Come risultato di questa mancanza, più di 30 membri della Loggia 1 di Portadown sono stati in grado di procedere per quasi 300 metri oltre la chiesa di Drumcree, poco prima delle 20, raggiungendo il confine con il vicino quartiere nazionalista di Ballyoran prima di fermarsi dal bloccare il traffico.

“Solo quando i residenti nazionalisti sono usciti dalle proprie case, allora la PSNI si è presentata sulla scena.

“Uno è obbligato a concludere che, sebbene a conoscenza della pianificata marcia di protesta dell’Orange Order e della decisione della Commissione Parate, la PSNI ha scelto deliberatamente di ignorare sia la marcia dell’Ordine che le restrizioni cui doveva sottostare. L’unica spiegazione per questo è che sia la PSNI che l’Orange Order hanno sperato di trascinare i nazionalisti ad un confronto fisico.

“La Commissione Parate, messa a conoscenza di altre infrazioni alle proprie decisioni riguardanti altri parate svoltesi nelle ultime settimane a Portadown, deve chiedere una spiegazione chiara sul motivo per cui la scorsa notte a Portadown la PSNI ha scelto di ignorare una decisione legalmente vincolante”.

PSNI absent as Drumcree Orangemen attempt illegal march

In a statement last night, the Garvaghy Road Residents Coalition has accused the PSNI of colluding with the Orange Order in Portadown in an attempt to create a confrontation with nationalist residents. A spokesperson for the GRRC said:

“Last week, the Parades Commission issued a determination in respect of a proposed march by members of the Orange Order from Drumcree which was planned for yesterday evening (Wednesday). Despite the PSNI being aware of that determination which ruled that the Orangemen could not proceed beyond the bridge at Drumcree, no PSNI personnel were present to enforce the Commission’s ruling.

“As result, over 30 members of Portadown LOL No.1 were able to make their way for over 300 yards from Drumcree church before 8.00pm to the edge of the nearby nationalist Ballyoran estate before stopping to block traffic.

“It was only as nationalist residents came from their homes that the PSNI arrived on the scene.

“One is forced to conclude that, although being aware of the planned Orange protest march and the Parades Commission ruling in respect of the same, the PSNI deliberately choose to ignore both the Orange protest march and the restrictions placed upon it. The only explanation for this is that both the PSNI and the Orange Order had hoped to draw nationalist residents into physical confrontation,

” The Parades Commission, who have been made aware of other breaches of its determinations in respect of other loyal order parades in recent weeks in Portadown, must ask for a clear explanation as to why the PSNI choose to ignore or enforce a legally binding determination last night in Portadown”
