Lo Sinn Fein e molti attivisti comunitari stanno lavorando incssantemente per cercare di fermare i giovani nazionalisti dal partecipare alle proteste contro le marce orangiste o ai disordini legati al 12 luglio.
Un volantino consegnato nella zona di Falls Road e siglato dalla “Beechmount Residents Association” avverte che le famiglie dei giovani che si comportano male potrebbero potenzialmete perdere le loro abitazioni.
“Informiamo che a chiunque venga trovato nelle zone di interfaccia a causare disordini, verrà preso il nome e il Northern Ireland Housing Executive ha sottolineato che, se sono affittuari, i genitori saranno informati e potranno essere prese azioni per la rottura dell’accordo di fornitura”, decreta il volantino.
Si avverte inoltre che il “Falls Community Safety Team”, insieme ai rappresentanti dell’Housing Executive e un’associazione locale legata alla gestione delle case, “saranno presenti in tutte le interfacce” per monitorare il comportamento dei giovani locali.
I leader della comunità hanno organizzato una serie di “attività diversive”, nel tentativo di fermare i giovani coinvolti nei disordini. Questi includono una “serata di divertimento per la famiglia” con castelli gonfiabili, pittura del viso, e un barbecue.
In altre parti di Nord e Ovest Belfast, i leader della comunità – con il supporto dello Sinn Féin – organizzano gite fuori città per cercare di togliere i giovani della zona durante il periodo contenzioso.

Sinn Féin and many local community activists are working hard to try to stop nationalist youths engaging in protests against Orange marches or riots over the Twelfth.
A leaflet delivered in the Falls Road area from ‘Beechmount Residents Association’ warned that families of any youths who misbehaved could potentially lose their homes.
“It has been advised that anyone found at the interfaces intent on causing trouble will have their names taken and (the) Northern Ireland Housing Executive has stressed, if they are tenants, parents will be informed and action may be taken in relation to breach of their tenancy agreements,” the leaflet states.
It also warns that the ‘Falls Community Safety team’, along with representatives of the Housing Executive and a local housing association, “will be present at all interfaces” to monitor the behaviour of local youth.
Community leaders have organised a range of “diversionary activities” in an attempt to stop youths becoming involved in disturbances. These include a “family fun evening” with bouncy castles, face painting, and a barbeque.
In other parts of West and North Belfast, community leaders – with Sinn Féin’s support – are organising trips out of the city to try to remove local youth from the area during the contentious period.
