Il 32CSM condanna attacco contro McLaughlin

Un portavoce di un gruppo repubblicano ha condannato il lancio di bottiglie molotov contro l’abitazione di un parlamentare shinner a Derry

Gary Donnelly, del 32 County Sovereignty Movement, ha detto che l’attacco contro l’abitazione di Mtchel McLaughlin è stato “sbagliato” e “non sarebbe dovuto avvenire”.

Lunedì centinaia di persone hanno partecipato ad un raduno nel Bogside per mostrare il proprio appoggio a McLaughlin.

Due bottiglie incendiarie erano state lanciate contro la sua abitazione domenica.

“Non c’è nulla da guadagnare nell’attaccare una famiglia o Mitchel McLaughlin”, ha detto Donnelly.

“Non è possibile ottenere nulla che quello”.

Il portavoce afferma di non conoscere chi può aver perpetrato l’attacco.

Il vice primo ministro, che ha parlato al raduno, ha affermato che il comunicato è stato “spremuto” ai dissidenti repubblicani.

McGuinness crede che i giovani coinvolti nell’attacco siano stati “manipolati da altri”.

“Sono di fatto dei surrogati per le organizzazioni che hanno minacciato i rappresentanti eletti dalla popolazione d’Irlanda nelle scorse settimane”, ha riferito.

Ha inoltre chiesto alla Real IRA di porgere le scuse a McLaughlin e di ritirare le minacce contro i membri dello Sinn Fein eletti.

Dissidents condemn petrol attack

A spokesman for a dissident republican group has condemned the petrol bomb attack on the Londonderry home of a Sinn Féin assembly member.

Gary Donnelly from the 32 County Sovereignty Movement said the attack on Mitchel McLaughlin’s home was “totally wrong” and “shouldn’t have happened”.

Several hundred people attended a rally in the Bogside on Monday to show their support for Mr McLaughlin.

Two petrol bombs were thrown at his home on Sunday.

“There is nothing to be gained by attacking a family or Mitchel McLaughlin,” said Mr Donnelly.

“You can’t get any clearer than that.”

He said he did not know who carried out the attack.

The deputy first minister, who spoke at the rally on Monday, said the statement had been “squeezed out” of dissident republicans.

Mr McGuinness said he believed the young people involved in the attacks had been “wound up by others”.

“They are effectively surrogates for organisations that have threatened the elected representatives of the people of Ireland over recent weeks,” he said.

He called on the Real IRA to apologise to Mr McLaughlin and withdraw threats against Sinn Féin’s elected representatives.
