Il Carrick Hill Concerned Residents Committee ha incontrato i membri del gruppo dell’Ordine protestante in vista di una parata che si terrà il mese prossimo.
Ci sono stati disordini nel corso dell’estate quando le parate lealiste sono transitate vicino alla chiesa cattolica di Donegall Street.
Frank Dempsey, membro del comitato di residenti, ha detto che l’incontro iniziale è servito ad entrambe le parti per esprimere i proprio punti di vista.
IL parlamentare di North Belfast Gerry Kelly ha accolto favorevolmente gli incontri e ha chiesto all’Orange Order di partecipare alle riunioni con i residenti.
“Dobbiamo adesso considerare che molti Apprentice Boys sono anche orangisti” spiega Kelly.
“Così non sarebbe necessariamente un grande salto per quell’organizzazione il fatto di muoversi e incontrare direttamente i residenti di quelle aree interessate dalle parate contenzione e faccio pressione sull’Orange Order affinché inizi a parlare con i residenti”.

Belfast residents talk with Apprentice Boys
The Carrick Hill Concerned Residents Committee talked with members of the Protestant marching order in advance of a parade next month.
There was trouble over the summer over loyalist marches passing a nearby Catholic church on Donegall Street.
Frank Dempsey from the committee said it was an initial meeting during which both sides expressed their views.
The north Belfast MLA Gerry Kelly has welcomed the talks and has called for the Orange Order to also talk to the residents.
“What now also must be considered is that there are many Apprentice Boys who are also Orangemen,” he said.
“So it would not necessarily be a huge leap for that organisation to move and engage directly with residents of those areas affected by contentious parades and I would urge the Orange Order to now initiate talks with residents.”
