Il Police Ombudsman sta indagando su come Kyle Bonnes, 15 anni, è affogato vicino a Derry dopo essere stato inseguito dalla polizia
Kyle Bonnes, 15 anni di Tullyally, è morto subito dopo essere estratto dalle acque del fiume. L’indicente è avvenuto a Drumahoe, poco dopo le 17 di ieri.
Gli agenti della PSNI hanno cercato di aiutarlo ma venne estratto senza conoscenza e morì poco dopo. La polizia riferisce che il giovane fuggì insieme ad un altro ragazzo, quando gli agnti si recarono a Glenshane Road per indagare su alcuni disordini.
Un comunicato dell’ufficio dell’Ombudsman afferma che ieri sera gli investigatori sono stati sul luogo della morte per coordinare il lavoro di mappatura, fotografia e analisi forense. “Vorremmo parlare con chiunque possa essere stato testimone di quanto avvenuto”.
Joe Miller, presidente del Derry District Policing Partnership, ha riferito di voler “monitorare i risultati” dell’indagine del Police Ombudsman.
“Ho già parlato con l’Ispettore Capo Chris Yates, comandante per la zona del Foyle della PSNI, in relazione all’incidente e sono a conoscenza che gli eventi riguardanti questa tragica perdita di una vita umana è soggetta ad un’indagine dell’ufficio del Police Ombudsman”, ha detto.

Kyle Bonnes, 15, from Tullyally, died after being pulled from the river yesterday. The incident happened in the Drumahoe area just after five o’clock last night.
PSNI officers tried to help him but he was pulled from the river unconscious and died a short time later. Police said the teenager ran off with another youth when they arrived to investigate reports of a disturbance on the Glenshane Road.
A statement from the ombudsman’s office said investigators had been at the scene through the night co-ordinating forensic, mapping and photography work. “We would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened,” the statement said.
The chairman of Derry District Policing Partnership, Joe Miller, said they would “monitor the outcome” of the ombudsman’s investigation.
“I have already spoken to the PSNI area commander in Foyle, Chief Inspector Chris Yates, in relation to the incident and I am aware that the events surrounding this tragic loss of life is the subject of an investigation by the police ombudsman’s office,” he said.
