Il Saville Report nelle mani degli avvocati

Il Rapporto Saville sui fatti del Bloody Sunday è stato reso disponibile ai legali del governo nella giornata di mercoledì

Gli avvocati devono verificare i contenti del rapporto, alla ricerca di materiale che potrebbe creare una minaccia alla vita di qualcuno o alla sicurezza nazionale.

Il Segretario di Stato, Shaun Woodward, ha confermato lo sviluppo mentre parlava alla House of Commons (Casa dei Comuni).

“Senza la Saville Inquiry (Inchiesta Saville), non ci sarebbe stato un processo di pace stabile”, ha affermato.

“Grazie all’inchiesta, è stato possibile stabilire la buona fede per il proseguimento del processo di pace, e tutti nella Casa dei Comuni saremo grati per tale avvenimento”; prosegue.

Dopo la verifica legale, Lord Saville consegnerà il rapporto al Segretario di Stato per la pubblicazione.

La distribuzione potrebbe essere ritardata dalle elezioni generali inglesi.

Tredici persone morirono a Derry il 30 gennaio 1972, dopo che i paracadutisti inglesi aprirono il fuoco contro una marcia per i diritti civili. Un’altra persona morì in seguito per le ferite subite quel giorno.

Saville report in lawyers’ hands

The Saville Report into the events of Bloody Sunday is to be made available to government lawyers on Wednesday.

They are to check the contents of the report for material which could pose a threat to life or national security ahead of publication.

The Secretary of State, Shaun Woodward, confirmed the development in the House of Commons.

“Without the Saville Inquiry, there would have been no stable peace process,” he said.

“Because of the inquiry, it has been possible to establish the bona fides for a peace process to succeed, and all of the house will be grateful for that success,” he said.

Once the report has been checked Lord Saville will hand it to the secretary of state for publication.

This may be delayed until after a general election.

Thirteen people died after paratroopers opened fire during a civil rights march in Londonderry in January 1972. Another person died later of their injuries some time later.
