Il tribunale Smithwick riprenderà le udienze a Dublino

Il tribunale sta indagando sulla collusione di agenti della Garda con l’IRA nell’omicidio di due ufficiali della RUC.

Il Soprintendente Capo Harry Breen ed il Soprintendente Bob Buchanan furono uccisi in un’imboscata al confine tra Nordirlanda e Repubblica nel marzo 1989, poco dopo aver lasciato la stazione di polizia della Garda di Dundalk.

Il tribunale ha già raccolto 69 testimonianze, comprese quattro dichiarazioni scritte.

Smithwick tribunal set to resume later

The Smithwick tribunal is set to resume in Dublin later.

The tribunal is investigating allegations of Garda collusion in the IRA murders of two senior RUC officers.

Chief Superintendent Harry Breen and Superintendent Bob Buchanan died in a border ambush in March 1989, minutes after leaving Dundalk Garda Station.

The tribunal has heard from 69 witnesses in public to date, including four statements that were read into the record.
