C’è stato un incendio doloso nell’ufficio dello Sinn Fein a Limavady
L’assessore locale dello Sinn Fein, Paddy Butcher, ha lanciato un appello alla calma e ha esortato la gente a non reagire in modo eccessivo.
“Per quanto riguarda lo Sinn Fein, resta tutto come sempre. Questa è la stagione delle parate, è un momento molto delicato dell’anno e dobbiamo dar prova di leadership – essere sereni e responsabili”, ha affermato.
La polizia ha lanciato un appello per chiunque abbia informazioni di presentarsi a testimoniare.
In un altro incidente tre uomini sui 20 anni sono stati accusati in relazione a un attacco contro una Orange Hall in città.
Le accuse si riferiscono ai danni causati alla Hall di Catherine Street nelle prime ore del mattino di giovedi.
Gli accusati compariranno presso il tribunale di Limavady il 4 agosto.
John Dallat, parlamentare SDLP, dice che le persone coinvolte in entrambi gli attacchi sono “elementi pericolosi che dovrebbero nascondere la testa per la vergogna”.
“I piromani non hanno alcun ruolo nella costruzione di comprensione e di pace tra le due comunità”, ha aggiunto.

Limavady Sinn Fein office targeted by arson
There has been an arson attack on a Sinn Fein office in Limavady.
Local Sinn Fein councillor Paddy Butcher has appealed for calm and urged people not to overreact.
“As regards to Sinn Fein, it’s business as usual. This is the marching season, it’s a very sensitive time of the year and we have to show leadership – be calm and responsible,” he said.
Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
In a separate incident three men in their 20s have been charged in connection with an attack on an Orange Hall in the town.
The charges relate to damage caused to the hall in Catherine Street in the early hours of Thursday morning.
They will appear at Limavady Magistrates Court on 4 August.
SDLP MLA John Dallat described those involved in both attacks as “dangerous elements who should hang their heads in shame”.
“Arsonists have no part in building understanding and peace between two communities,” he added.
