Iris Robinson torna in Irlanda del Nord

Un portavoce della famiglia di Peter Robinson ha confermato che la moglie del primo ministro è ritornata in Irlanda del Nord

Iris Robinson si dimise da parlamentare per la circoscrizione di Strongford, da parlamentare di Stormont e da consigliere comunale dopo che lo scorso gennaio scoppiò lo scandalo della sua relazione con un ragazzo di 19 anni.

La Robinson ha trascorso gran parte di questo anno in una clinica di Londra.

Confermando la notizia pubblicata su un quotidiano circa il suo ritorno a casa, il portavoce della famiglia Robinson ha affermato: “Come parte del suo recupero e della sua cura Iris è ritornata a casa per alcuni giorni a luglio ed è di nuovo qui.

“Iris ha viaggiato, in entrambe le occasioni, accompagnata da un’infermiera. Continuerà le cure in Irlanda del Nord per il tempo che sarà ritenuto pratico”, prosegue la dichiarazione.

“Peter (Robinson) ha chiesto che a Iris sia data la privacy per continuare lungo la strada della guarigione”.

Iris Robinson returns to Northern Ireland

A spokesman for the family of Peter Robinson has confirmed that his wife, Iris, has returned to Northern Ireland.

Mrs Robinson resigned as MP for Strangford and as an MLA and councillor after it emerged last January that she had an affair with a 19-year-old man.

She has spent much of this year in a clinic in London.

Confirming newspaper reports about her return, a spokesman for the Robinson family said: ‘As part of her recuperation and treatment Iris returned home for a few days in July and is presently home.’

‘Iris travelled, on both occasions, accompanied by a nurse. She will continue her treatment in Northern Ireland for as long as it remains practical to do so,’ the statement added.

‘Peter [Robinson] has asked that Iris be given the privacy to continue on the road to recovery.’
