L’Irish Republican Prisoners Welfare Association è indignato di essere a conoscenza che questa mattina il prigioniero repubblicano Brian Cavlan è stato arrestato e accusato di aver infranto le condizioni di libertà, quindi è stato riportato nella prigione di Maghaberry.
Questa mattina Brian è stato raccolto davanti alla prigione da un suo caro amico. Avevano percorso pochi metri quando sono stati circondati dalla polizia e Brian è stato arrestato e ricondotto nel carcere.
L’arresto della polizia arriva dopo che il POW repubblicano Sean McConville ieri era stato giudicato colpevole di aver infranto le sue condizioni di rilascio, quando era stato mandato a casa alcune settimane fa.
Sean è stato riconosciuto colpevole nel corso di un giudizio in cui ha rifiutato di partecipare perché ha presentato una richiesta di revisione giudiziaria per il rifiuto dell’amministrazione di Magheberry di consentire la consultazione e la rappresentazioni legale a quelle aggiudicazioni.
L’IRPWA condanna con forza le azioni della polizia e dell’amministrazione di Maghaberry.
Questo approccio in base al quale i prigionieri repubblicani rilasciati sulla parola sono vessati, perseguitati e messi sotto costante sorveglianza da parte della polizia solo per accertarsi se si stanno riunendo con altri repubblicani può essere descritto solo come vendicativo. Noi mettiamo in discussione questa stretta collaborazione tra la PSNI e il servizio carcerario. Contestiamo anche l’imparzialità della polizia, cui è stato chiesto di compilare e presentare le cosiddette prove ai funzionari carcerari che le utilizzeranno nelle prossime aggiudicazioni.
I nostri pensieri sono con la famiglia di Brian Cavlan che avevano programmato una riunione collettiva per dargli il benvenuto a casa e che adesso sono devastati perché oggi lui non sarà con loro e probabilmente non trascorreranno insieme il Natale perché molto probabilmente perderà la sua prevista licenza per Natale, in conseguenza delle azioni compiute oggi dalla polizia.
IRPWA Outrage at RUC sectarian targeting of Republican Parolee.
IRPWA are outraged to learn this morning that Republican Prisoner Brian Cavlan has been arrested and charged with breaking his parole conditions and returned to Maghaberry.
Brian was collected this morning at the gaol by a close friend, they had only travelled a matter of yards when they were surrounded by the RUC and Brian was subsequently arrested and returned to the Gaol.
This RUC arrest comes on the back of Republican prisoner Sean McConville being found guilty yesterday of breaching his parole conditions when he was home on parole a few weeks ago.
Sean was found guilty during an adjudication in which he refused to attend as there is currently a Judicial Review before the courts around the refusal of Maghaberry to allow legal consultation/legal representation at these adjudications.
IRPWA strongly condemn the actions of the RUC and Maghaberry administration.
This approach whereby Republican Prisoners out on parole are harassed and hounded and put under constant surveillance by the RUC all to ascertain if they are associating with fellow Republicans can only be described as vindictive and we question this close working relationship between the RUC and the prison service and also question the impartiality of the RUC who have been compiling and presenting so called evidence to the prison to be used in subsequent internal prison adjudications.
Our thoughts are with Brian Cavlan’s family who had planned a family get together to welcome him home and are now left devastated that he won’t be with them today and probably won’t be home this Xmas as he most likely will lose his planned Xmas paroles as a consequence of today’s actions by the RUC.
