Jamie Bryson candidato unionista nel Mid Ulster?

Le elezioni suppletive per il seggio vacante a Westminster nella circorscizione del Mid-Ulster potrebbero avere un candidato unionista a sorpresa, nelle sembianze del leader delle manifestazioni contro l’abolizione della Union Jack, Jamie Bryson.

Willie Frazer, fondatore del gruppo di sostegno alle vittime FAIR, ha evidenziato la propria decisione a farsi da parte se il candidato unionista sarà il ventiduenne lealista.

L’ex direttore del FAIR ha detto che il giovane di Donaghadee, attualmente alla guida dell’Ulster People’s Forum, ha la “capacità” di correre nelle prossime elezioni.

Nel frattempo l’UUP annuncia che presenterà un proprio candidato nel Mid-Ulster solo se farà lo stesso il DUP.

Un portavoce del partito ha affermato: “Se il DUP presenta un candidato nel Mid-Ulster, anche l’Ulster Unionist Party presenterà il proprio candidato.

“L’elettorato avrà l’opportunità di votare per qualcuno con i valori dell’Ulster Unionist”.

Leading flag protester a surprise candidate in Mid-Ulster by-election?

MID-ULSTER may have a surprise candidate in the forthcoming by-election – in the shape of leading flag protestor Jamie Bryson.

Victims campaigner Willie Frazer says he may consider stepping aside as a contender for the Westminster seat to allow the 22 year-old loyalist to run.

The former FAIR director says the young Donaghadee man, who is the interim chair for the Ulster People’s Forum (UPF), has the “capability” to run in the forthcoming election, and could be his replacement.

Meanwhile the UUP says it will run a candidate in the Mid-Ulster by-election – but only if the DUP also run.

A party spokesperson told the MAIL: “If the DUP stand a candidate in Mid-Ulster, the Ulster Unionist Party will be standing a candidate.”

“The electorate will have an opportunity to vote for someone with Ulster Unionist values.”
