Jim Allister, TUV, incolpa lo Sinn Fein per ritardo nel rapporto HET su bomba di Enniskillen

Il rapporto dellìHistorical Enquiries Team sul massacro di Enniskillen del Remembrance Day riferirà che, lo stesso giorno, l’IRA aveva anche cercato di mettere una bomba durante una sfilata che si svolgeva a pochi chilometri di distanza.

Jim Allister, leader dell’ultra unionista TUV, ha rilasciato una dichiarazione in cui accusava lo Sinn Fein di causare ritardi nelle indagini dell’HET sull’attacco, premendo per mettere fine all’assunzione come personale di agenzia di ex membri della RUC – il nome della polizia nordirlandese prima del 2001.

Secondo Allister il rapporto dell’HET sulla bomba di Enniskillen con tutta probabilità confermerà che l’IRA aveva programmato un altro attentato lo stesso giorno contro una parata della “Boys ‘and Girls’ Brigade” a Tullyhommon, a pochi chilometri di distanza da Enniskillen.

La bomba di Tullyhommon non riuscì ad esplodere ma quella di Enniskillen provocò 12 morti e 63 feriti.

Tuttavia, il leader TUV ha detto che, secondo uno dei feriti di Enniskillen, l’HET ora sta dicendo che il rapporto sulla bomba non sarà pubblicato prima del 25° anniversario del massacro, a causa di mancanza di personale di agenzia.

Il parlamentare si è detto “inorridito” dalle voci e ha accusato lo Sinn Fein per la una campagna contro l’uso di personale di agenzia nella PSNI.

Un portavoce della PSNI ha detto che i cambiamenti di organico nell’HET, come all’interno della PSNI, “vengono considerati sullo sfondo di un impegno finanziario in corso volto a ridurre la dipendenza dell’organizzazione dai contratti di assunzione di personale temporaneo”.

Ha poi aggiunto: “I posti temporanei in esame nell’HET sono di natura amministrativa e di sostegno e non per i ruoli investigativi”.

Un portavoce dello Sinn Fein ha detto che HET significa “ex ufficiali RUC che indagano su ex ufficiali RUC”.

Ha poi aggiunto: “Questo è chiaramente inaccettabile per chiunque nella comunità nazionalista e repubblicana. Assumere nuovamente ex ufficiali RUC in posizioni delicate nella PSNI è una pratica che deve cessare”.

TUV claim over Poppy Day report

The Historical Enquiries Team report into the Enniskillen Poppy Day massacre will say that the IRA also tried to bomb a youth parade only a few miles away on the same day, it is claimed.

TUV leader Jim Allister made the claim last night as he accused Sinn Fein of causing delays in the HET investigation into the atrocity by pressing for an end to former RUC officers being hired as agency staff.

Mr Allister said the HET report into the Enniskillen bombing is likely to confirm that the IRA planned another bomb attack on the same day on a Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade parade at Tullyhommon, only a few miles away from Enniskillen.

The Tullyhommon bomb failed to go off but the Enniskillen bomb claimed 12 lives and injured many more.

However, the TUV leader said one of the Enniskillen victims tells him HET is now saying its report on the attack will not be published in time for the 25th anniversary of the atrocity, on November 8, due to loss of agency staff.

The MLA said he was “appalled” by the reports and blamed Sinn Fein, as it has campaigned against the use of agency staff in the PSNI.

A PSNI spokesman said changes in staffing at HET, as within PSNI, “are being considered against the backdrop of a challenging financial environment and an ongoing commitment to reduce the organisation’s dependency on temporary staffing contracts”.

He added: “The temporary posts under consideration in HET are of an administrative and supportive capacity and are not of investigative roles.”

A Sinn Fein spokesman said HET was “former RUC officers investigating former RUC officers”.

He added: “This is clearly unacceptable to anyone in the nationalist/republican community. The rehiring of former RUC officers into sensitive positions in the PSNI is a practice which must stop.”
