Kevin Crilly, accusato per omicidio Nairac, si dichiara innocente

L’uomo della Contea di Armagh si è dichiarato non colpevole per l’omicidio del capitano della SAS Robert Nairac, ucciso esattamente 32 anni fa ma il cui corpo non è mai stato trovato

Kevin Crilly, 59 anni di Jonesborough, si è detto non colpevole per il rapimento, il sequestro e l’omicidio avvenuto tra il 13 ed il 16 maggio 1977.

Il capitano Nairac era al suo quarto turno di impiego in Irlanda del Nord quando fu prelevato dal Three Step Inn in South Armagh.

Sei uomini sono stati incarcerati per quel crimine.

Tre di loro sono colpevoli di omicidio.

Un avvocato della Corona ha detto che il caso è “in avanzato stadio di preparazione”.

Tuttavia, un avvocato difensore ha affermato che le parti devono ancora trovare un accordo sulle questioni legali relative ad alcune prove.

Rilasciando Crilly dietro cauzione, il giudice Hart ha stabilito che il processo inizierà alla fine di novembre e dovrebbe durare circa tre settimane.

Nairac murder accused’s not guilty plea

A County Armagh man has pleaded not guilty to murdering SAS Captain Robert Nairac who was killed exactly 32 years ago but whose body has not been found.

Kevin Crilly, 59, of Lower Foughill Road, Jonesborough, pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, false imprisonment and murder between 13 and 16 May 1977.

Captain Nairac was on his fourth tour of duty in NI when he was abducted from the Three Steps Inn in south Armagh.

Six men have been jailed in connection with the crime.

Three of the men were found guilty of murder.

A Crown lawyer said the case was “at an advanced stage of preparation”.

However, a defence lawyer said the parties still had to deal with legal issues over hearsay evidence.

Releasing Crilly on continuing bail, Mr Justice Hart said the trial would start at the end of November and last for approximately three weeks.
