È riprovevole che la famiglia Sands, compresa la nostra anziana madre, sia stata messa al corrente di questo libro dagli estratti pubblicati sui mezzi di comunicazione oggi (ieri, 25 febbraio 2016, Ndt).
Abbiamo appreso che il libro contiene scene familiari intime di cui nessuno, tranne i nostri familiari, sarebbe al corrente.
È un peccato che persone ben intenzionate, come il signor Hunt (l’autore) siano tratti in inganno da parte di coloro che professano di essere un’autorità sulla storia della vita di Bobby.
La nostra famiglia ribadisce ancora una volta che il Bobby Sands Trust non agisce a nome di Bobby, né rappresenta la nostra famiglia, in qualsiasi forma o contenuto. Facciamo nuovamente appello al Trust affinché si sciolga e desista dall’utilizzare il nome di Bobby come un’impresa commerciale.
Ancora una volta l’occasione per promuovere gli ideali e il sacrificio per i quali Bobby morì sono stati sminuiti da chi cerca di portare avanti obiettivi differenti – sia a livello personale che politico.

SANDS FAMILY RESPONDS TO PUBLICATION OF BOOK – ‘BOBBY SANDS FREEDOM FIGHTER’
It is reprehensible that the family, including our elderly mother, was first made aware of this book when confronted by extracts displayed in the media today.
We are given to understand that the book contains intimate family scenes that no one, other than our family members, would be privy to.
It is unfortunate that well meaning people, such as Mr Hunt (author) are misled by those who profess to be authorities on Bobby’s life story.
Our family once again reiterates that the Bobby Sands Trust does not act on behalf of Bobby, nor does it represent our family, in any shape or form. We again call upon the Trust to disband and desist from using Bobby’s memory as a commercial enterprise.
Once again an opportunity to promote Bobby’s ideals and sacrifice that he died for has been diminished by those who seek to promote different agendas – both personal and political.
