La moglie di un informatore IRA ha lanciato una richiesta all’Alta Corte per poter citare in giudizio un uomo ritenuto l’agente britannico di più alto livello infiltrato nei Provisional
Scappaticci, 64 anni, nega di essere stato la spia militare britannica denominata “Stakeknife”.
La signora Keeley, il cui marito è l’agente dell’MI5 conosciuto come Kevin Fulton, ha avviato un procedimento contro la polizia per un presunto illecito arresto e per falso imprigionamento.
Il caso riguarda la sua presunta detenzione presso il centro detentivo di Castlereagh nel 1994, dopo il tentativo dell’IRA di assassinare il detective della RUC Derek Martindale a East Belfast.
Afferma che, dopo il rilascio, era stata prelevata e trasportata presso una casa di New Lodge, dove venne interrogata da alcuni uomini dell’IRA.
La Keeley ha affermato di aver sofferto di esaurimento nervoso come conseguenza della brutta avventura.
Scappaticci finì sotto i riflettori nel 2003 quando i media britannici e irlandesi parlarono di lui come dell’agente Stakeknife, un’accusa categoricamente negata.
Da allora ha ottenuto un ordine del tribunale che vieta qualsiasi pubblicazione sulla sua recente ubicazione.
Come parte del caso, la Keeley sta cercando di ottenere l’inserimento sia di Scappaticci che del ministero della Difesa.
In seguito ad un breve incontro alla Masters Court, l’avvocato della Keeley, Kevin Winters, ha confermato:
“La richiesta avanzata oggi è stata fatta per chiedere il permesso al tribunale di includere Scappaticci ed il ministero della Difesa come co-imputati nell’azione penale.
“Il caso è stato aggiornato per quattro settimane, per permettere agli avvocati di preparare e consegnare una replica”.
Se la richiesta sarà accolta, saranno inviati mandati di comparizione a Scappaticci ed al ministero della Difesa.

IRA informer’s wife in ‘Stakeknife’ legal bid
The wife of an IRA informer has launched a High Court bid for permission to sue a man alleged to have been the highest-ranking British agent within the Provisionals.
Scappaticci, 64, denies allegations that he was the military spy codenamed Stakeknife.
Mrs Keeley, whose husband is the one-time MI5 agent known as Kevin Fulton, has issued proceedings against the police for alleged wrongful arrest and false imprisonment.
The case has been brought over her alleged detention at the Castlereagh holding centre in 1994, following an IRA attempt to murder senior RUC detective Derek Martindale in east Belfast.
She claims that after being released she was taken to a house in the New Lodge, north Belfast and interrogated by a number of IRA men.
Mrs Keeley says she later suffered a nervous breakdown as a result of her ordeal.
Scappaticci was thrust into the spotlight in 2003 when British and Irish media claimed he was the double agent Stakeknife, an allegation he categorically denied.
He has since secured a court order banning any publication of his current whereabouts.
As part of Mrs Keeley’s case she is now attempting to widen her claim to include both Scappaticci and the Ministry of Defence.
Following a brief hearing in the Masters Court, Mrs Keeley’s solicitor, Kevin Winters, confirmed:
“The application today was to seek the court’s permission to join Mr Scappaticci and the MoD as co-defendants in the action.
“It was adjourned for four weeks to allow his lawyers to prepare and file a replying affidavit.”
If the application is granted, writs will then be served on both Scappaticci and the MoD.
