La polizia torna sulla scena della bomba al Policing Board una settimana dopo

Bomb scene revisited one week on

Police have revisited the scene of a failed bomb attack outside the Policing Board’s headquarters in Belfast.

Belfast, Clarendon DocksA 400lb bomb partially exploded after a car was driven through a barrier on 21 November. No-one was injured.

Detective Chief Inspector Debbie McMaster said her team wanted to trace the movements of two vehicles.

“Had this bomb fully exploded it would have killed and injured passers by and many buildings in the area would have been extensively damaged,” she said.

Two men were seen running off after the attack at Clarendon Dock, which was blamed on dissident republicans.

DCI McMaster said they were seeking more information on two cars – the black Mazda used in the attack and a Nissan Primera with false registration plates which was discovered on fire in the New Lodge area a short time afterwards.

Police have released pictures of cars similar to those suspected to have been used in the attack, and leaflets were handed out in an attempt to jog people’s memories.

Detectives appealed for anyone who saw the cars travelling close to each other in the greater Belfast area prior to the attack to contact them.

“We would also like to speak to anyone who saw the Nissan Primera car being abandoned and set alight in the New Lodge area the same night,” she added.
