La PSNI incassa altri 37,4 milioni di sterline per contrastare i repubblicani

Mentre il taglio di 128 milioni di sterline del budget aleggia sull’Irlanda del Nord, il ministro della giustizia David Ford ha detto che sono stati promessi 37,4 milioni di sterline addizionali alla PSNI per affrontare nel 2010/11 l’attività repubblicana.

Tom Elliott, parlamentare dell’UUP, ha chiesto al nuovo ministro della giustizia quali passi sono stati intrapresi affinché la PSNI potesse avere sufficienti risorse per contrastare l’attività repubblicana.

Ford ha risposto: “Ho incontrato il Chief Constable (Matt Baggott) e ho discusso le richieste di fndi per la PSNI alla luce della situazione di sicurezza.

“Ho preso impegno con la PSNI: fornire altri 37,4 milioni di sterline nel 2010/11 appositamente per contrastare l’attività terrorista dissidente.

“Dove c’è un chiaro caso per ulteriori risorse discuterò della materia con il ministro delle Finanze, in primo luogo”.

AS £128m of cuts loom over Northern Ireland Justice Minister David Forde says an additional £37.4m has been promised to the PSNI to deal with dissident terrorist activity in 2010/11.

The new Justice Minister was asked by UUP MLA Tom Elliott what steps he had taken to ensure that the PSNI has sufficient resources to deal with dissident terrorist activity.

Mr Forde replied: “I have met the Chief Constable and discussed the PSNI’s resource requirements in light of the security situation.

“The PSNI has been given a commitment that an additional £37.4m will be provided in 2010/11 specifically to deal with dissident terrorist activity.

“Where there is a clear case for further resource I will discuss the matter with the Minister for Finance and Personnel in the first instance.”
