Le ricerche di uno dei “Disappeared” si muovono verso il Nordirlanda

Gli esperti sono pronti ad iniziare il loro primo scavo in Irlanda del Nord per un uomo che risulta disperso da quasi 40 anni.

Peter Wilson – che non era annoverato tra i “Disappeared” fino a poco tempo fa – scomparve da casa sua a West Belfast nel mese di agosto 1973. Solo lo scorso anno è stato aggiunto alla lista delle persone rapite, uccise e sepolte in segreto dai repubblicani.

Ora è emerso che la commissione incaricata di individuare i resti dei Disappeared ha ricevuto informazioni che potrebbero portare ad una svolta. “Abbiamo alcune informazioni in relazione a Peter Wilson che indicano l’esistenza di un sito nel Nord”, ha riferito John Hill, portavoce della Commissione, a UTV.

“Ci vorrà un certo tempo prima di terminare il processo di valutazione e dopo provvederemo a prendere la decisione se ci sarà una campagna di scavi oppure no”.

Due settimane fa alcuni resti umani, che si ritiene siano quelli di Charlie Armstrong, sono stati trovati in Monaghan.

‘Disappeared’ body search moves north

Experts are poised to start their first dig in Northern Ireland for a man who went missing almost 40 years ago.

Peter Wilson — who was not counted among those ‘Disappeared’ by paramilitaries until recently — vanished from his west Belfast home in August 1973. He was only added to the list of those abducted, killed and secretly buried by republicans last year.

It has now emerged that the commission set up to locate the remains of the Disappeared has received information that could lead to a breakthrough. “We have some information that indicates in relation to Peter Wilson that there may be a site in the north,” commission spokesman John Hill told UTV.

“It will be some time before we’ve got to the end of the evaluation process and we’ll make a decision then whether there will be an excavation or not.”

Two weeks ago, remains, believed to be those of Charlie Armstrong, were found in Monaghan.
