Il leader della UVF apparirà presso la accusato della morte di John Harbinson, picchiato a morte nel quartiere di Mount Vernon, dove la famigerata banda di Haddock esercitava il potere.
Il 40enne è stato arrestato dagli investigatori dell’Historical Enquiries Team (HET) martedì nella prigione di Maghaberry, dove sta scontando una pena di 10 anni per l’aggressione contro un portiere di night club.
L’ex informatore dello Special Branch della Royal Ulster Constabulary è anche accusato del tentato omicidio di un 37enne e di aver causato gravi lesioni personali ad un altro uomo.
Gli investigatori dell’HET stanno attualmente esaminando 10 omicidi collegati alla banda di Mount Vernon da un rapporto del Police Ombudsman sulla presunta collusione tra i lealisti di North Belfast e le forze di sicurezza.
L’HET ha attualmente arrestato 16 uomini in collegamento con gli omicidi. Undici sono stati accusati formalmente e quattro sono soggetti ad ulteriori indagini dei procuratori.

The UVF leader will appear at Belfast Magistrates Court accused of killing John Harbinson, who was beaten to death in the Mount Vernon estate where Haddock’s notorious gang wielded power.
The 40-year-old was arrested by detectives from the police’s Historical Enquiries Team (HET) on Tuesday inside Maghaberry prison, where he is serving a 10-year term for attacking a nightclub doorman.
The one time informer for the Royal Ulster Constabulary’s Special Branch is also charged with the attempted murder of a 37-year-old man and grevious bodily harm against a 37-year-old man.
HET detectives are currently examining 10 murders linked to the UVF’s Mount Vernon gang by a Police Ombudsman’s report on alleged collusion between loyalists in north Belfast and security forces.
The HET has now arrested 16 men in connection with the killings. Eleven have been charged and four are subject to reports by prosecutors.
